Daily Learning Plan in Health Education

Time & Section: VI Generosity

I. Objectives
Students will understand the concept of gender equality and its importance in society.
Students will recognize and analyze gender stereotypes and their impact on
individuals and society.
Students will develop critical thinking skills by discussing and challenging gender
stereotypes.

II. Subject Matter


A. Content: HEALTH EDUCATION
B. Reference: DO Memorandum No. 001 s. 2024

III. Materials
- Whiteboard or blackboard
- Markers or chalk
- Chart paper and markers
- Handouts with examples of gender stereotypes
- Pencils or pens
- Exit tickets

IV. Procedure

Bell-Ringer Activity:
1. Display a picture or video clip that depicts a gender stereotype (e.g., a commercial
showing boys playing with trucks and girls playing with dolls).
2. Ask students to silently reflect on the image or video and write down their initial
thoughts and observations about gender roles and stereotypes.

Introduction:
1. Engage students in a class discussion by asking them to share their initial thoughts
and observations from the bell-ringer activity.
2. Define the terms "gender equality" and "gender stereotypes" and provide examples
to ensure understanding.
3. Explain the importance of discussing gender equality and challenging stereotypes
to create a fair and inclusive society.

Direct Instruction:
1. Present a brief history of gender roles and stereotypes, highlighting how they have
evolved over time.
2. Discuss the negative impact of gender stereotypes on individuals and society, such
as limiting opportunities and reinforcing inequality.
3. Introduce the concept of gender equality and explain its significance in promoting
fairness and respect for all individuals.

Guided Practice:
1. Divide students into small groups and provide each group with a chart paper and
markers.
2. Instruct each group to brainstorm and list common gender stereotypes they are
aware of.
3. After a designated time, have each group share their lists with the class and discuss
the stereotypes as a whole.

Independent Practice:
1. Distribute handouts with examples of gender stereotypes to each student.
2. Instruct students to analyze the examples and identify the underlying stereotypes.
3. Ask students to write a short paragraph explaining why these stereotypes are
problematic and how they can challenge them in their daily lives.

Exit Ticket:
1. Distribute exit tickets to each student.
2. Ask students to write down one thing they learned about gender equality and one
action they can take to promote gender equality in their own lives.

Closure:
1. Review the main points discussed in the lesson, emphasizing the importance of
challenging gender stereotypes and promoting gender equality.
2. Encourage students to continue questioning and challenging gender stereotypes in
their daily lives.
3. Thank the students for their participation and engagement in the lesson.
