The required passwords are not included in this document.
You can obtain them from the local SIEMENS Healthcare service organization.
CAUTION
Switching the system off via hibernation after service or before handover to the
customer is not sufficient.
Various error messages can appear after the next system boot and configuration
changes are not saved.
To ensure that the configuration changes are saved, a proper shutdown must
be performed. Shut down the system via the upper monitor menu bar <Op‐
tions>-<End Software Session>-<Shut Down> and then press the "OFF" key on
the monitor trolley.
Before the system is handed over to the customer, the system must be shut down via
the menu bar <Options>-<End Software Session>-<Shut Down>.
Switching the system off via hibernation (on/off button on the monitor trolley) is not
sufficient.
The term “Recovery DVD creation” is explained in the chapter “Terms Used”.
2.2.1 Prerequisites
If new software packages for the ARCADIS Gen2 with PC type M720 were released after
publication of this document, the printed material numbers may no longer be valid.
n Check the Spare Parts Catalog for newer versions of Software Package ARCADIS Gen2
with PC type M720.
n Check the released updates for newer versions of Software Package ARCADIS Gen2
with PC type M720.
A backup of the ARCADIS system settings is only needed if changes in the system soft‐
ware settings have been performed since the creation of the last Recovery DVD set.
The “Service Patient” is only visible in the patient browser as long the service application
is running.
After the patient images are transferred, the patient browser contains no pa‐
tients.
To create the recovery DVD, the syngo imaging PC must be in an error-free state and
must be completely configured.
If the syngo imaging PC is working correctly, no BIOS installation is needed prior to creat‐
ing the recovery DVD.
If the customer changed the HIPAA logon passwords since the last time the recov‐
ery disk was created, contact the responsible system administrator because these
recycled passwords are valid again after a recovery restore.
The terms “Backup & Restore” of the ARCADIS system settings are explained in the chap‐

The monitor trolley and the basic unit must be connected (plug X10 is connected to
socket X10).
1. Open the DVD drive tray and insert a blank CD-R into the DVD drive.
2. Close the DVD drive tray.
3. Open Local Service.
4. Click <Backup & Restore>.
5. Select “Command” and “Backup”.
6. Select “(R) CD-R” in the “Drives” list field as the backup drive.
7. Perform a backup of the following packages:

ASPIASettings
ExamSet
Security-Settings (HIPAA option)
MainSystem
3D-Settings (Option Orbic 3D)
If the tray of the DVD drive opens automatically after each backup of the selected pack‐
age, close the tray and start the backup of the next package until all required packages
are stored on the CD-R medium.
n The system must be switched on. If it is off, switch it on and wait until it is ready for
operation.
n Shut down the system via the menu bar <Options>-<End Software Session>-<Shut‐
down> and switch off the system by pressing the power OFF button on the monitor
trolley.
n Wait until the shutdown is finished.
2.2.4.2 Disconnecting the USB printer, network ports, and main system
n If present, disconnect the USB connector of the local printer from the PC.
n If present, disconnect any network connectors (RJ45) from the monitor trolley.
n If the optional WLAN client is present, open the rear cover of the monitor trolley and
disconnect the WLAN client RJ45 connector from the internal network hub.
n Disconnect the main system from the monitor trolley.

3. Enter the BIOS password and confirm it by pressing the “Enter” key.
The main BIOS window is displayed.
1. Insert the COBR CD into the CD/DVD drive and close the CD/DVD drive tray.
Use the tables in section “Required Software CDs / DVDs” to select the correct software
clone installation DVD.
Before changing the BIOS boot sequence in the menu <Boot sequence>, make a note of
the normal boot sequence.
After the recovery DVD has been successfully created, the boot sequence needs to be set
back to the normal order.
2. In the upper menu line, select the menu <Boot> using the cursor keys and then press
the “Enter” key.
3. Using the up and down cursor keys, select the DVD drive (line <SATA PM: TSSTcorp
CDDVDW SH-2>).
The characters in the line are highlighted.
Depending on the BIOS and the DVD drive that are installed, the displayed name of the
DVD drive (<SATA PM: TSSTcorp CDDVDW SH-2>) may differ.
4. Move the highlighted line <SATA PM: TSSTcorp CDDVDW SH-2> to the top position of
the displayed boot sequence list by pressing the [+] key or [-] key.
As long as the operating system is not running, the US keyboard layout is active.
The “+” key is selectable on the keyboard by pressing key 4 or “Shift” (key 2) + key 1.
The “-” key is selectable on the keyboard by pressing key 5 or key 3.

5. Press the “ESC” key two times to return to the BIOS main menu.
6. Press the “F4” key to save the BIOS changes.
The message appears: “Save configuration changes and exit now?”

7. Confirm the question “Save configuration changes and exit now?” by selecting [Yes]
and pressing the “Enter” key.
The system will be restarted and boots automatically from the previously inser‐
ted imaging system clone DVD.
If the system switches off and does not reboot automatically, switch it on manually.
The PC boots from the imaging system clone DVD and starts the BIOS installation.
The correct COBR tool CD is still in the DVD drive and the DVD drive tray is closed.
1. After the boot sequence is changed and the PC automatically reboots, the PC boots up
from the bootable COBR Tool CD in the DVD-R drive.

ond empty DVD -R medium. Close the tray and click the OK button to close the message
and continue the backup.
Label the second DVD-R disk.
As soon the backup is finished, remove the backup DVD, close the DVD drive tray, and
confirm the message “Backup/Restore” with <OK>.
The system restarts.
11. As soon as text is displayed on the left monitor, press the “F2” key on the keyboard.
The BIOS logon window appears.
2. Change the BIOS boot sequence to the previous setting (“hard drive” is first) as descri‐
bed at the beginning of the system backup procedure.

3. Save the configuration changes and exit the BIOS by pressing the “Enter” key.
After the next boot, the system backup is complete and the system is ready for
operation.
2.2.6.2 Connecting the local printer, network cables and the main system
n Switch off the system.
n If previously disconnected, reconnect the local printer (USB), the network cables, and
the WLAN network cable at the internal network switch; then connect the monitor
trolley to the main unit (connector X10).
2.2.6.3 Covers
n If covers were removed, reconnect the protective ground wires on the covers and fas‐
ten the covers.
2.2.6.4 Tests
n If covers were removed and reinstalled, perform a protective ground wire resistance
test in accordance to the IEC 62353.
The creation of the Recovery DVD set and the backup of the ARCADIS system settings are
now finished.
The term “Recovery DVD restore” is explained in the chapter “Terms Used”.
If the Software Recovery Installation fails the first time, you can try to restore the “User
Defaults” BIOS settings prior to the next Software Recovery Installation. See Software In‐
2.3.1 Prerequisites

BIOS settings
n Change only the boot sequence settings to allow the boot from the COBR CD.
n Do not change other BIOS settings.
Up-to-date Recovery DVDs
n Set of previously created and up-to-date Recovery DVD disks.
A restore of the ARCADIS system settings using the Backup & Restore function of syngo
local service is only required if the Recovery DVDs are no longer up-to-date and the
changes to the ARCADIS system settings were stored on a Backup CD after the last Re‐
covery DVDs were created.
During the Recovery DVD restore the patient image database will be deleted and a new
n If still possible and required, save the patient images and delete these from the syngo
imaging database
- Send the patient images to the archive, if available.
- Or burn them to CD/DVD.
- Or save them to USB hard drive.
Do not delete the “Service Patient”.
The “Service Patient” is only visible in the patient browser as long the service application
is running.
For the Recovery DVD restore, the syngo imaging PC should be in an error-free state.
If the syngo imaging PC shows hardware error messages or BIOS error messages, try
loading the “User Defaults” BIOS settings.

If newer BIOS firmware was released after the publication of this document, install the
new BIOS firmware.
Then check the PC hardware using the DIFS tool.
If the customer changed the HIPAA logon passwords since the last time the recovery
DVD was created, contact the responsible system administrator because these recycled
passwords are valid again after a recovery restore.
2.3.3 Starting the COBR Tool for the Recovery DVD restore

1. Insert the COBR CD into the CD/DVD drive and close the CD/DVD drive tray.
2. In the upper menu line, select the menu <Boot> using the cursor keys and then press

1. The PC boots up from the bootable COBR tool CD, located in the CD/DVD drive.
The message “Windows is loading files...” is displayed.
Some scripts are run.
The “Backup/Restore” window appears soon thereafter (~3 minutes).

If there are two recovery DVD-R disks (one DVD-R with the first part and a second DVD-R
with the second part of a recovery backup), insert the first DVD-R disk. After restoring
the first part, the restore routine asks for the second DVD-R disk. Then insert the second
DVD-R disk and follow the program prompts.
Restoring from the recovery DVD starts and takes about 15 to 30 minutes.
After the restore, a message appears that the restore is finished.
8. As soon as the restore is finished, open the DVD drive tray and remove the backup
DVD.
9. Close the DVD drive tray.
10. Close the message window by clicking the <OK> button.
The system restarts.
11. As soon as text is displayed on the left monitor, press the “F2” key on the keyboard.
The BIOS logon window appears.
3. Save the configuration changes and exit the BIOS by pressing the “Enter” key.
After the next boot, creation of the patient database starts automatically.
The terms “Backup & Restore” of the ARCADIS system settings are explained in the chap‐
ter “Terms Used”. See “System Configuration - Manually or using Backup & Restore”
A restore of the ARCADIS system settings is only necessary if configuration changes have
been performed since the creation of the last Recovery DVD.
In such cases we recommend creating a new Recovery DVD after the successful and
complete configuration of the system.
Be aware that restoring the ARCADIS system settings does not include the following set‐
tings:

Software updates (bug fix)
Printer configuration
n Country specific settings (e.g., keyboard, time zone)
2.4.1 SW settings 02
1. Under “Archive”, select the correct (newest) backup file of “SW-Settings 02”
2. Highlight all files in “Groups” (press the “Shift” key and select the first and last entry of
groups).
3. Click <Go>.
4. Wait until “======= End Restore: Day...., Date....., Time...., Duration....” is displayed in
the status window. The next settings group can be selected.
5. Do not restart the ASPIA PC. First restore the following settings.

2.4.3 3D Settings
1. Option for Orbic: Under “Archive”, select the correct backup file of 3D Reconstruction
settings.
2. Click <Go>.
3. Wait until “======= End Restore: Day...., Date....., Time...., Duration....” is displayed in
the status window. The next settings group can be selected.
4. Do not restart the ASPIA PC. First restore the following settings.
2.4.5 Security-Settings
1. Under “Archive”, select the correct backup file of “Security Settings”.
2. Click <Go>.
Now the user names and passwords stored in the security settings are valid
again.
Next time, log in with the user name and password obtained from the HIPAA
administrator.
3. Wait until “======= End Restore: Day...., Date....., Time...., Duration....” is displayed in
the status window. The next settings group can be selected.
4. Do not restart the ASPIA PC. First perform the work steps given in the section “Con‐
necting the main system, local printer, and network”.
The main system settings only have to be restored if they got lost (e.g. after the replace‐
ment of the D1 board)
The software installation for the main system and restore of the main system settings
are described in separate instructions “Software Installation Main System and Genera‐
tor”.
At this time, the restore of the main system settings is not possible.
The main system settings are stored on the main system D1 board and the main system
restore is not part of the recovery procedure for the imaging PC.
2.5.1 Covers
n Switch off the system via Shut Down menu.
n Disconnect the power plug from the wall socket.
n Install and fasten all previously loosened protective conductor wires and covers.
2.5.2 Tests
n If covers and protective conductor wires were removed and reinstalled, perform a pro‐
tective conductor resistance test of the system.
The protective conductor resistance must not exceed 0.2 ohms.
n Connect the power plug to the wall socket and switch on the system.
n Perform the Image Quality Quick Test to ensure the functionality and image quality of
the system.
3.1.3 What work steps are NOT included in the software clone installation?
The software clone installation does not include:
n PC BIOS firmware updates released later than the software clone installation DVD.
n Software updates released later than the software clone installation DVD.
n Hotfixes or Bugfixes released later than the software clone installation DVD.
Additional manual configurations have to be performed to finish the software clone in‐
stallation.
During the software clone installation the license files, the product-specific settings, and
the customer-specific settings have to be programmed.
3.1.4 What are the prerequisites for the software clone installation?
The prerequisites for the software clone installation are:
n Valid clone installation DVD for the ARCADIS system.
n Valid BIOS firmware CD.
n BIOS password (Password List for XP - See Knowledge Base).
n USB dongle.
n Valid product license files (see system binder or call your local licensing center).
n Valid service license key (see system binder or call your local licensing center).
n The correct computer name of the ARCADIS System.
n The administrator name (Password List for XP - See Knowledge Base).
n The administrator password (Password List for XP - See Knowledge Base).
n Valid backup CD with the customer-specific settings.
manually (initial configuration).
Additionally, the default exam sets available on the “AutoLUT-Autodose-Examset V2” CD
have to be restored.
n Systems with HIPAA activated: Contact the local HIPAA administrator and ask for the
HIPAA user name and HIPAA user password.
To start the software clone installation, booting from the DVD drive must be enabled
(BIOS boot sequence settings) and further BIOS settings have to be set correctly.
These additional settings depend on the syngo imaging PC type and its installed BIOS ver‐
sion.
These settings are described in the PC-specific software installation document (software
clone installation).
Change further BIOS settings only if explicitly stated in the software installation instruc‐
tions.
n If the BIOS battery was replaced prior to the BIOS firmware installation, the current
date and time must be set.
n Further prerequisites are described in the BIOS installation document.
3.3.2 What are the prerequisites for using the COBR Tool?
The COBR Tool is stored on a bootable CD.
The COBR Tool used must be compatible with:
n The syngo imaging PC type.
n The syngo imaging software version.
To start the COBR Tool, booting from the DVD drive must be enabled (BIOS boot sequence
settings).
The first set of Recovery DVDs was created in the factory and delivered with the ARCADIS
system.
3.4.4 What are the prerequisites for creating the Recovery DVDs?
The following prerequisites must be met to create a new set of Recovery DVDs:
n The syngo imaging PC must be and operate error-free.
n All stored patient images must be transferred to the hospital servers.
No additional patient images should be stored on the syngo imaging PC.
n The COBR Tool used must be compatible with the syngo imaging PC type.
n The COBR Tool used must be compatible with the syngo imaging software version.
n The BIOS settings need to be changed temporarily to allow the booting from the DVD
drive.
3.5.4 What are the prerequisites for restoring the Recovery DVDs?
The following prerequisites must be met to restore the data stored on the Recovery DVDs:
n The boot sequence of the DVD drive (BIOS settings) has to be changed to allow boot‐
ing from the DVD drive.
n The COBR Tool used must be compatible with the syngo imaging PC type.
n The COBR Tool used must be compatible with the syngo imaging software version.
Further prerequisites for restoring the Recovery DVD on the syngo imaging PC are descri‐
bed in the Software Recovery Installation documents.
Only a few system configurations cannot be stored or restored using the Backup&Re‐
store function.

This has to be performed using the Backup function integrated in the syngo imaging serv‐
ice software.
If system configurations were changed we also recommend creating a new set of Recov‐
ery DVDs.
