1. What does deferred mean?
Ans:
It is when something is postponed or delayed to a later time.
2. How was dream compared to a raisin? rotten meat? and heavy load?
Ans:
As I’ve analyzed the poem the dream was compared to raisins because as raisins dry up, they
become sweet, it was compared to rotten meat as it is hard to bear the smell of a rotten meat and it was
compared to a heavy load that sags till you cant lift it. In my point of view the author used these things to
compare to a dream because our dreams can sometimes be sweet, can be suffocating and come to the point
where it gets too heavy for us to continue pursuing it.
3. What are the author’s descriptions of a dream deferred?
Ans:
Hughes proposed that a deferred dream dries up like raisin under the sun, it’ll stink like rotten
meat and sag like a heavy load indicating that a deferred dream will do you no good.
4. Based on the poem, what happens when you don’t go after your dreams, and you defer them at a later
time?
Ans:
As a dreamer this hit me, If I defer my dreams it’ll dry up and lose its shimmers, the thought of it
will suffocate me and I’ll keep the heavy load of regret of not pursuing it until my emotions explode.
5. If you were the author, how would you feel upon writing the poem?
Ans:
Writing something about deferred dreams is rather sad, if I were the author I’d feel down
because reality speaks many dreams are deferred due to society’s requirements to allow you to dream and the
root of it all is money.
6. Do you agree with the author’s idea that a dream deferred stinks like rotten meat? Why?
Ans:
Although not as hard as pursuing your dreams, preparing meat is a struggle but the result is
deliciously satisfying just like our dreams, we must be willing to take the harsh path and never delay our
dreams. Rotten meat is the result if it is deferred and so will our dreams, to conclude I fully agree to the author’s
idea.

1. Disproportional Impact of Covid-19
Claim/Counterclaim:
COVID-19 was far more devastating for low-income citizens.
Reasons behind your opinion:
COVID -19 was the worst for all of us but for others, especially those whose income was short and
was completely gone when it hit it was far from worse. While the world was suffering business owners saw this
opportunity to boost their business from facemasks to other protective equipment that was smuggled and sold in
high prices which made it more difficult for low-income citizens. Paired with this event was the slow but
ceaseless flight of prices, which was of course another benefit for business owners.
2. Anti-Terrorism Bill
Claim/Counterclaim:
The anti-terrorism bill endangers human rights.
Reasons behind your opinion:
Although this law is a great effort to address the issue of terrorism and all allied activities, while at
the same time ensuring the protection of our civil and political rights it does not pose importance on the civil
side of human rights, it uses an overbroad definition of terrorism that can subject suspects, apprehended without
a warrant, to weeks of detention prior to an appearance before a judge which does pass the concept of human
rights, and in some cases these citizens who are apprehended are merely relatives of the real suspects.
3. Distribution of cash aid under the Social Amelioration Program in the Philippines
Claim/Counterclaim:
The social amelioration program is an effective approach to lessen financial problems in
poor communities.
Reasons behind your opinion:
After COVID-19 income has plummeted in most families in the Philippines followed by inflation
of many household necessities this program has helped many citizens to ease some financial problems, with a
target of 18 million families it has completed half of it and continuously increasing.

As of today, it is visible that COVID-19 has a lesser
but lingering effect to us, cases of it are getting closer
to none as the result of the measures we practiced.as
long as we stay conscious and take with us the
lessons we’ve learned I believe we are ready to
exercise the said new normal in our daily live.

Evidence of opinion:

In his report to President Rodrigo Roa Duterte

during the Talk to the People on Monday night,
DOH Secretary Francisco Duque III said the
Philippines reached a low-risk case classification
with a negative two-week growth rate of -74
percent and a low-risk average daily attack rate of
5.26 per 100,000 individuals.
He said all regions in the country are under low
risk except for Region 11 (Davao), Cordillera
Administrative Region, Region 6 (Western Visayas),
and Region 12 (Soccsksargen), which are all under
moderate risk classification.
Use your own words and thoughts to
explain what the evidence means:
These evidence proved that we are capable
of implementing a new normal life, given
that these statements came from directly
from the government which states that cases
of COVID-19 has plummeted in all regions
of the country indicating safety for all
citizens.

Topic and Title of the article:

A Results Based Assessment of the Bayanihan to Heal as One Act, this article evaluates the results of this act.

Claim or Counterclaim:
The Bayanihan to Heal as One Act of 2020 wasn’t effective in declining the effects of COVID-19.

Evidence 1:
The Bayanihan Act mandated the
provision of financial assistance to
low-income families and other
vulnerable groups. However, the
expansive coverage of community
quarantine substantially increased the
number of affected people, and made
the provision of financial assistance a
very challenging task considering the
very limited scope of the country’s
existing social protection programs.
Government took so long to distribute
the financial assistance amidst issues
of inefficiency and corruption,
contributing to the involuntary hunger
of about 5.2 million families or
around 30 million individuals.
Evidence 2:
The Bayanihan Act has mandated
measures to provide wage subsidy,
credit, and liquidity support to
workers and enterprises to keep them
afloat. However, the community
quarantine measures prevented the
operations of establishments that are
not considered essentials, suspended
public transportation, and disrupted
the supply chains network, affecting
the viability of many businesses
especially MSMEs. As a result, many
businesses decided to permanently
close or temporarily suspend
operation and lay-off their workers.
This event lead to inflation of prices.
Evidence 3:
Community quarantine appears to be
the primary line of defense that the
government has undertaken to
contain the spread of COVID-19.
However, in spite of this drastic
measure, the number of COVID-19
cases in the country has continued to
increase at an alarming rate. Since
August 6, 2020, the Philippines has
recorded the highest number of
COVID-19 cases in Southeast Asia.
Its number of daily new cases of
4,343 on August 22, 2020 is 11th
highest in the world.
