Acclimatise EGCP2 - Generator Operator s Quick Reference Guide

Operation of the generators is determined by the position of two selector switches

mounted on the control panel door in conjunction with the EGCP-2 controller internal
setpoints.

Control Mode Selection Switch

The main control panel has a Woodward EGCP-2 unit as the generator controller. A
Control Mode Switch is included, allowing four modes of operation for the generator:

The various Control Switch positions are outlined as follows:

1. OFF: Generator will not start
2. AUTO: Generator will start on loss of mains or on receipt of a remote start signal
(see Modes of Operation section for specific requirements).
3. MANUAL: Generator will run off load. (Note: Generator breaker may close. See
Modes of Operation section for details)
4. RUN: Generator will synchronise to the mains and ramp up to its base load point.

Sync Mode Selector Switch

As well as a Control Mode Switch, the control also features a Sync Mode Switch.

The various Sync Switch positions are as follows:

1. NORMAL - Enables island mode operation and sync to the mains when there is
mains breaker control available.
2. PARALLEL ONLY Enables the generator to sync to the mains when there is
no available mains breaker control.
3. STANDBY ONLY - Enables island mode operation of the generator. The EGCP-
2 AMF function is inhibited and a remote signal is required to start the generator.

Modes of Operation
There are four possible modes of operation for the generators:

1. Island Mode
a. With Mains Breaker Control (Includes AMF and sync)
b. Without Mains Breaker Control (Breaker control and timing by others. Remote
Start signal required)

2. Sync with other Generators

a. Prime Power (No mains)
b. Standby to Mains (Remote Start signal required)

3. Sync with the Mains

a. With Mains Breaker control (Includes AMF operation)
b. Without Mains Breaker control (no Island Mode operation)
c. Without Mains Breaker control (in Manual Mode)
d. Without Mains Breaker Control (in Remote Control)

4. Sync with the Mains and other Generators

a. Normal Operation
b. In Manual Mode
c. In Remote Control

The alarm is muted when the ALARM CLEAR is pressed.

Faults can be viewed through in the ALARM/EVENT Log.

In the event of a Hard Shutdown the engine will be locked out until the fault is
acknowledged by pressing the ALARM CLEAR push-button while in the
Alarm/Event Log.
The faults can be cleared while in the ALARM/EVENT Log by pressing ALARM
