It is my honor to write this letter of recommendation for Nicole Nguyen. Having collaborated with her as
the Leo Club Advisor for the El Capitan High School Leo Club for the past four years, I have had the
privilege of seeing her develop into an ardent community service activist.

Nicole has served in various roles on the club’s board of directors for all four years of high school, from
Webmaster to Vice President, to Social Media Coordinator, to her current role as President. Under her
leadership, the 186-member club received the 2022-23 Leo Club Excellence Award, the highest
distinction attainable within the Lions International Organization.

Nicole’s true brilliance lies deep within. She has a rare combination of personal qualities. Her
incredible intelligence is sheathed beneath a persona of great humility. Recognized by her
peers for her work ethic, she is admired for her kindness and thoughtfulness. She is easy to be
with and her natural leadership skills make everyone want to engage with her.

Her dedication to making a difference in her community has predictably expanded her scope to include
national and global humanitarian projects. This past spring, along with three fellow Leos and a
partnership with the Merced County Office of Education, she organized a successful fundraising project
for the benefit and aid of victims of the recent Turkey-Syria earthquakes.

Nicole has taken part in two consecutive USA/Canada Leo Leadership Forums. This past summer she
served as the USA West Coast Leo Associate in Chicago, Il where she presented a training seminar on
public speaking titled, “How to Communicate Effectively and Have Meaningful Conversations.”

Over my past decade as a Leo Club Advisor, I have collaborated with hundreds of high school students.
From our very first interaction, Nicole has proven to be an incredibly special person. To the fortunate
organization or program granted the opportunity to read this letter, I can only say that I am envious. I
will miss her friendship and unwavering spirit. As an enduring memory, I will take comfort in knowing
that whatever Nicole undertakes, she will certainly make our world a better place.
