Computer Science in High School
Computer science education in high school can provide students with valuable skills and

knowledge. It teaches fundamental programming concepts and problem-solving techniques.

These skills can be applied to a variety of subjects and real-world challenges. Studying computer

science also introduces students to potential technology-focused career paths. Overall, high

school computer science curricula can prepare students for success in an increasingly digital

world.
Why Computer Science should be offered at a
high school level
● According to a recent College Board report, the number of girls taking
AP Computer Science Principles has skyrocketed to 136% (“The
Importance of Computer Science for High School Students”)
● Computer science programs for high school students deepen critical
thinking as they empower students to grasp complex or abstract ideas
and transform them into beliefs or direct actions.

● By taking coding courses in high school, students can develop their

creativity and learn how to think outside the box when it comes to
problem-solving.
