Objective
To study Voice Link Using Pulse Amplitude Modulation
Experimental Setup
Refer to the following diagram to configure setup for the present experiment

Procedure
1. Connect a microphone in the socket of Microphone Interface block.
2. Now connect the output of Microphone Interface TP8 to the modulation signal input of PAM
block TP10.
3. Connect the 32 KHz pulse output TP3 to Pulse IN of PAM block TP9.
4. Connect the sample output of PAM block TP12 to the input of Low Pass Filter TP20.
5. Connect the output of Low Pass Filter TP21 to the input of AC Amplifier TP23. Adjust the
gain pot of AC amplifier in mid position.
6. Now connect the output of AC Amplifier TP24 to input of Audio Amplifier TP25.
7. Switch ON the power supply.
8. Say the Words ”Testing 123, Hello, Hello, Testing 123” using microphone in a loud voice and
simultaneously observe the pulse being modulated by audio signal at output of Sample TP11,
Sample & Hold TP12 & Flat Top TP13 outputs.
9. Repeat the words in step 8 and simultaneously observe its demodulation and hear the same
voice in speaker.

Objective
To study Voice Link using Pulse Position Modulation
Experimental Setup
Refer to the following diagram to configure setup for the present experiment

Procedure
1. Connect a microphone in the socket of Microphone Interface block.
2. Now connect the output of Microphone Interface TP8 to the modulation signal input of PAM
block TP10.
3. Connect the 32 KHz pulse output TP3 to Pulse IN of PAM block TP9.
4. Connect the Sample & Hold output of PAM block TP12 to the input of PPM block TP15.
5. Observe the PPM output TP16 using oscilloscope.

6. Now connect the output of PPM block TP16 to the input of Low Pass Filter TP20.
7. Connect the output of Low Pass Filter TP21 to the input of AC Amplifier TP23.
8. Keep the gain preset of AC Amplifier in mid position.
9. Connect the output of AC Amplifier TP24 to the input of Audio Amplifier TP25.
10. Switch ON the power supply.
11. Say the Words ”Testing 123, Hello, Hello, Testing 123” using microphone in a loud
voice and simultaneously observe the PPM, by observing the waveforms at different
stages.
12. Repeat the words in step 8 and simultaneously observe its demodulation and hear
the same voice in speaker.
