FOSTERING FIRE SAFETY AWARENESS: A NARRATIVE REPORT ON

SAINT CLARE COLLEGE OF REGION 2 INC. STUDENTS'
PARTICIPATION IN FIRE PREVENTION MONTH ACTIVITIES

Saint Clare College of Region 2 demonstrated its unwavering commitment

to promoting fire safety awareness by actively participating in the Fire Prevention
Month activities organized by the Cauayan City Fire Station. With the theme "Sa
Pag-iwas ng Sunog, Hindi Ka Nag-iisa," students from Grade 3 to Grade 6
engaged in a series of educational sessions and practical exercises aimed at
equipping them with essential fire safety knowledge and skills. The event took
place from 8 am to 5 pm at San Fermin City of Cauayan City, Isabela, hosted by
the Cauayan City Fire Station.
The day-long event commenced with an orientation session where students
were introduced to the significance of Fire Prevention Month and the theme for
this year's campaign. They were briefed on the importance of collective efforts in
preventing fire incidents and the role each individual plays in promoting fire safety
within their communities. The following activities are:
Snake and Ladder Inspired Puzzle. The game was a specially designed
snake and ladder inspired puzzle focusing on fire safety measures. The students
engaged in this interactive game, where they navigated through various scenarios
related to fire prevention. Each step they took provided them with valuable
insights into fire safety practices.
CPR Training. One of the highlight activities of the day was CPR
(Cardiopulmonary Resuscitation) training. Students were taught the basic
techniques of CPR by certified instructors from the Cauayan City Fire Station.
They learned how to respond effectively in case of emergencies such as cardiac
arrest, thus equipping them with life-saving skills beyond fire safety.
Zipline Adventure. To add an element of fun and adventure to the event,
students also had the opportunity to experience a zipline adventure under the
supervision of trained personnel. This thrilling activity not only provided students
with a memorable experience but also reinforced the importance of safety
measures and risk assessment in recreational activities.
Fire Evacuation Drill, In this drill, students practiced evacuating a simulated
building engulfed in smoke. They learned the importance of remaining calm,
following designated escape routes, and assisting others during evacuation. This
drill emphasized the significance of preparedness and quick action in ensuring
everyone's safety during a fire emergency.
Fire Extinguisher Training, Students received hands-on training on how to
operate different types of fire extinguishers effectively. They learned the PASS
technique (Pull, Aim, Squeeze, Sweep) and practiced extinguishing controlled fires
under the supervision of fire safety experts. This drill empowered students with the
skills needed to intervene promptly and contain small fires before they escalate.
Climbing in Fire Drill Tower, it was an opportunity for students to
experience climbing in a fire drill tower. Under the supervision of trained
firefighters, the students were guided through the proper techniques of ascending
and descending the tower. This activity not only provided them with a thrilling
experience but also imparted valuable insights into the challenges firefighters face
during rescue operations.
In conclusion the active participation of Saint Clare College of Region 2
students in the Fire Prevention Month activities organized by the Cauayan City
Fire Station reflects the school's dedication to nurturing responsible and safety-
conscious individuals. Through a combination of educational sessions, practical
exercises, and adventurous activities, students not only acquired essential fire
safety knowledge and skills but also developed a sense of resilience, teamwork,
and community spirit. As they return to their respective classrooms, they carry
with them a heightened awareness of fire safety and a commitment to making a
positive difference in their communities.
