Harvesting Freshwater Shrimp
Things to consider in harvesting:
• Check the soft shell count of the stock two to three days
before harvest.
• Drain the grow-out pond two to three hours after high tide in
order to harvest.
• Harvested shrimp should be promptly placed in the chilling
tanks
• Sort, weigh, and pack the shrimp as soon as possible

Factors to consider in Freshwater Shrimp Production
Dissolve Oxygen

Dissolved oxygen for shrimp are equal or higher than 5 ppm.

Low dissolved oxygen can cause deaths in shrimp and fish.
Temperature

It should be between 31 and 33 °C

Salinity

High levels of salinity reduce the level of dissolved oxygen.

Saltiness of the water directly affects the health and growth of shrimp.
Water Depth

Have an average water depth of 0.9 meters.

Minimum of 0.75 meters and a maximum of 1.2 meters.
Water ph

Water with pH ranging from 7.5 to 9.0

Low pH levels will cause the shell of shrimp to become soft.
