How do

Animals
Digest food?
By Luisito
First,
What types of
digestive system are?
There are 2 types of digestive system: Vertebrate and
invertebrate:
Vertebrates have evolved more complex digestive systems to
adapt to their dietary needs. Some animals have a single
stomach, while others have multi-chambered stomachs. Birds
have developed a digestive system adapted to eating
unmasticated food.

Digestion by invertebrates is nominally in two phases: extracellular

breakdown of food followed by intracellular digestion; protist
invertebrates digest foodstuffs by intracellular means. Invertebrate
digestion differs from that of vertebrates in that the former lacks
digestive glands opening into the hindgut.
extinct animals
the dodo

The Dodo is a lesson in extinction. Found by Dutch soldiers around

1600 on an island in the Indian Ocean, the Dodo became extinct less
than 80 years later because of deforestation, hunting, and
destruction of their nests by animals brought to the island by the
Dutch. The Dodo may not always have been flightless
