The first graph above provides information on the number of train commuters,
while the second graph below compares the percentage of trains running on
schedule against a fixed benchmark of 95%. These statistics were collected over a
span of nine years, from 2000 to 2009, but the exact location is not specified.
Upon first observation of the graph, it is apparent that despite displaying an
irregular pattern over time, there was a general upward trend in the number of train
passengers. Furthermore, taking into account a reference point set at 95%, the
percentage of trains operating on time not only met but also surpassed the target
between 2002 and 2004, as well as from 2008 to 2009.
In relation to the initial graph, the number of passengers began at approximately 36
million in 2000. There was a brief increase of 5 million passengers in 2002,
followed by a decrease back to the initial value in 2003. Subsequently, the figure
fluctuated in an upward trend, reaching a peak of 44 million in 2007, before
declining and ultimately ending at around 42 million by the end of the timeframe.
Upon a quick observation of the second graph, it is evident that in 2000, only 92%
of trains adhered to their scheduled timings. However, starting from 2002, there
was a noticeable improvement, as the percentage of trains running on time aligned
with and even surpassed the expected benchmark of 95%, reaching a peak of 96%
in 2004. Unfortunately, this positive trend was short-lived, as the proportion
experienced a significant drop below the target, hitting a low of 92% in 2006.
Nonetheless, there was a subsequent recovery, with the percentage gradually
increasing and reaching its highest point at 97% in both 2008 and 2009.
