MUNICIPAL ORDINANCE NO. 04

AN ORDINANCE NAMING THE STREETS, ROADS, ALLEYS, AND


CREEKS IN THE THIRTEEN BARANGAYS OF CAMALIGAN, CAMARINES
SUR.
WHEREAS, RA 7160 empowers local government units full discretion and control
over the naming of places within their territorial jurisdiction, subject only to the review of
the National Historical Institute;
WHEREAS, towards this end, the Municipal Ordinance No. 002-09 sets the
guidelines, and implementing procedure of the naming of streets, roads, alleys, sitios, and
public places and structures in the municipality of Camaligan, Camarines Sur;
WHEREAS, in most barangays of the municipality, there are streets, roads, alleys
and creeks which have no names, and are referred to only by traditional common names
which have no historical sense at all;
WHEREAS, there is a need to name such streets, roads, alleys and creeks for
better identification which, at the same time, shall perpetuate historically valuable facts
and information about Camaligan as a municipality;
NOW, THEREFORE on motion by Councilor Alfredo A. Azutillo, duly seconded by
all the members present,
BE IT ORDAINED by the Sangguniang Bayan of Camaligan, Camarines Sur that:-
SECTION 1. TITLE & SCOPE. This ordinance shall be known as “An Ordinance
Naming the Streets, Roads, Alleys and Creeks in the Thirteen Barangays of Camaligan,
Camarines Sur”.
SECTION 2. DEFINITION OF TERMS. – As used in this ordinance, the following
terms shall be construed as:-
1. Street – a public thoroughfare for vehicles and pedestrians in a town or city;
2. Road – a public way for passage or travel, a highway, or any means or way of approach
3. Alley – a narrow passageway
4. Creek – a small river or stream
SECTION 3. NAMES OF STREETS, ROADS, ALLEYS. For expediency and
convenience, the following maps are incorporated herein and made integral part of this
ordinance.

SECTION 4. APPROVAL AND REVIEW. This ordinance shall be submitted to the


National Historical Institute within ninety (90) days after approval.
SECTION 5. SEPARABILITY CLAUSE. If any section, sub-section, paragraph,
sentence, clause or phrase of this Ordinance is declared unconstitutional or invalid for any
reason, such decision shall not affect the validity of the remaining provisions of this
Ordinance, which shall continue to be in force and in effect.
SECTION 6. REPEALING CLAUSE. Ordinances, rules and regulations or parts
thereof, which are inconsistent or in conflict with the provisions of this Ordinance are
hereby repealed and/or modified accordingly.
SECTION 7. EFFECTIVITY DATE. This Ordinance shall take effect immediately
upon approval.
ENACTED: May 30, 2011.
