Location: between Pacific and Indian Oceans in southern hemisphere.
10.45 South to 43.39 south latitude & 113.09 East to 153.39 East longitude. Climate condition: The climate is variable, with frequent droughts lasting several seasons, thought to be caused in part by the El Niño-Southern Oscillation. Larger part –Desert and semi arid .
The southern to eastern and western regions feature temperate climates
and fertile soil. The northern part experiences a tropical climate. Temperatures range from a maximum of 50°C to a minimum of -23°C. Occasionally, dust storms occur due to tornadoes. Temperatures have increased by approximately 0.70°C from 1910 to 2004, in line with the global warming trend. According to the Bureau of Meteorology (BOM), 80% of the land receives less than 600mm of rainfall annually, with an average of 419mm. Half of the area receives less than 300mm of rainfall annually. New South wales: Half of new South wales has an arid and semi arid. Eastern portion- temprate climate. Western part- semi arid and desert climate. Warmest region- North West . Coldest region- snowy mountains region. Highest tem. Recorded was 49.7°C at Menindee at 10 Jan 1939.
