1. What are the different types of festivals celebrated in
India?
Ans: The different types of festivals which are
celebrated in India are religious festivals, harvest
festivals and national festivals.
2. How are Eid and Christmas celebrated?
Ans: Eid is celebrated by Muslims at the end of Ramzan,
the holy month of fasting. They pray in mosques, wear
new clothes and cook good food. They greet each other
by saying ‘Eid Mubarak’.
Christmas is celebrated by Christians on 25th December
every year. It is the birthday of Jesus Christ. People go to
church, decorate Christmas trees and prepare special
food on this day. They wish each other ‘Merry
Christmas’.
3. How are Baisakhi and Onam celebrated?
Ans: Baisakhi is celebrated in Punjab every April. People
dress in colourful clothes. On this day, they do the
traditional Bhangra dance.
Onam is celebrated in Kerala. People worship King
Mahabali, who is said to have ruled Kerala long ago.
Special boat races are held on this day.
4. Which is the harvest festival celebrated in Tamil
Nadu?
Ans: Pongal is the harvest festival which is celebrated in
Tamil Nadu.
5. Why do we celebrate religious festivals?
Ans: We celebrate religious festivals to rejoice special
moments and to enjoy our glorious heritage, culture and
traditions with our loved ones.
6. Do you think festivals teach us to love and share?
Ans: Yes, festivals do teach us to love and share as
through festivals we embrace one another’s culture and
traditions.
