HISTORY:
According to narrations handed down from generation, this Barangay was formerly
called BULAWAN, which means gold. The area is surrounded by the rich mountains
and lake thats why the early residents were engaged in farming and fishing as their
main source of income.
Stories were told by the elders that when the Spanish came in place, it was
lunchtime. They dropped by the first house they saw and the Spanish Officials asked the
father of the family the name of the place. The father did not understand their language
but the thought they were asking for some food, so he told his wife HALA-HAIN!
( meaning go, and serve). The Officers recorded it and called the place HALAYHAYIN,
which evolve and up to this time, the place is called HALAYHAYIN.

A. Formal Education
B. Water Supply
The Pililla Wate District extends its water services to the Barangay but
can only serve the Barangay Halayhayin proper, since their elevated tank has
the capacity of only 15,000 gallons. The residents of Sitio Bugarin have no source of
potable water supply. They merely depend on the ration from the private suppliers
for their everyday domestic needs, which cost them an inconsiderable amount.
