1.) Cite one rule or regulation you have in an organization you are part of and explain the
importance of compliance and the sanctions for non-compliance. (10 pts)
- The efficacy of our Sangguniang Kabataan (SK) organization depends on regular participation in
meetings and events. Compliance guarantees that choices are taken collaboratively, that all opinions
are heard, and that initiatives are carried out cohesively. Verbal warnings, written reprimands,
fines, or temporary suspension are some penalties for non-compliance. The community and
Kabataan gain from these actions because they uphold organizational integrity, accountability, and
discipline.
2.) Select 3 from the 14 points presented in the Kartilya ng Katipunan and explain their significance
in maintaining a peaceful and orderly community (15pts)
a.) To preserve social harmony and order, "Ipagtanggol ang inaapi at labanan ang nang-aapi"
places emphasis on standing up for the underprivileged and fighting oppression. By eliminating
structural inequities, this position upholds justice, prevents conflict, encourages unity, defends
human rights, and advances the long-term well-being of society. It lays the groundwork for a more
just and peaceful neighborhood where everyone may live without facing prejudice.
b.) The provision "Ang taong matalino ay nagiingat sa bawat sasabihin; matutong ipaglihim ang
dapat ipaglihim" emphasizes the value of caution and judgement in upholding harmony and order
in the society. It emphasizes how wise it is to think things through before speaking and to know
when to withhold certain facts. Additionally, people respect the dignity and privacy of others by
being careful about what they reveal and what they keep secret.
c.) The saying "Ang hindi mo ibig gawin sa iyong asawa, anak, at kapatid ay huwag mong gagawin
sa asawa, anak, at kapatid ng iyong kapuwa" emphasizes how crucial empathy and reciprocity are
to upholding a peaceful and civilized community Individuals foster harmony, mutual
understanding, and trust within their society by upholding this norm. It is a reminder to maintain
moral conduct, kindness, and equity in all dealings, cultivating solid ties among families and the
community. People should recognize each other and create a more compassionate, peaceful, and
cohesive community where everyone feels valued and respected by showing compassion and
empathy to others.
3.) Compare and contrast the "Decalogue of the Duties of the Sons of the People" by Andres
Bonifacio with Kartilya ng Katipunan by Emilio Aguinaldo. Explain the answer in 300 to 500
words. (15pts)

Both Emilio Aguinaldo's "Kartilya ng Katipunan" and Andres Bonifacio's "Decalogue of

the Duties of the Sons of the People" are foundational texts in the framework of Philippine history,
especially in the fight for independence from colonial authority. Though these works have
independence as their ultimate objective, there are subtle differences in their method, focus, and
tone.

The revolutionary passion and spirit of the Katipunan, the secret organization that
Bonifacio established are reflected in his "Decalogue of the Duties of the Sons of the People". It
consists of 10 commandments that specify what each member is expected to do for their country
and fellow Filipinos. Principles like togetherness, selflessness, and sacrifice for the common good
are emphasized in Bonifacio's decalogue. It urges the sons of the people to put their nation's
interests ahead of their own and to be prepared to fight and sacrifice their lives to
achieve independence. The straightforward and passionate language calls on the Filipino people to
rise up against injustice by responding to their national feelings.

On the contrary, Aguinaldo's "Kartilya ng Katipunan" adopts a more deliberate and

instructional approach. Aguinaldo's Kartilya, which was written as a manual for Katipunan
members, offers a thorough framework for revolutionary activity. It outlines the fundamentals,
customs, and order of command of the group in addition to offering helpful guidance on military
strategy and administration. Aguinaldo emphasizes discipline, respect for authority, and strategic
planning in his Kartilya, but he also emphasizes the value of sacrifice and allegiance to the country.
Aguinaldo's training as a military commander and politician is reflected in the tone, which is more
instructional and practical.

Each author's positions and viewpoints within the revolutionary movement are a significant
distinction between the two writings. As the Katipunan's founder and an advocate for the
underprivileged, Bonifacio places a strong emphasis on the struggle and the necessity of
collaborative action. His decalogue addresses the general populace directly, imploring them to rebel
against colonial domination by taking up weapons. As a military leader, Aguinaldo gained
prominence and became the first president of the Philippine Republic. His experiences
commanding armies and governing regions have shaped his Kartilya, which represents a more
hierarchical and structured approach to revolution.
In conclusion, although Aguinaldo's "Kartilya ng Katipunan" and Bonifacio's "Decalogue
of the Duties of the Sons of the People" both aim for Philippine independence, they vary in tone,
style, and focus. While Aguinaldo's Kartilya takes a more ordered and practical approach,
reflecting his military leadership and administrative skills, Bonifacio's decalogue embraces the
impassioned vocabulary of local resistance, appealing to the masses' patriotic passion. When taken
as a whole, these writings shed light on the many tactics and beliefs that influenced the Philippine
Revolution.
