Instructions: Answer any THREE (3) questions from this section.

Question 1

Meetings have advantages and disadvantages, and group think adds to their complexity. Discuss
five (5) strategic considerations which will enable managers to plan meetings effectively.
(Total 25 marks)

Question 2

a. Messages are categorized along four (4) continuums. Identify and briefly explain each.
(8 marks)

b. Not all technology is appropriate for all types of messages. A manager should be able to
match each message with the appropriate technology – Discuss. (17 marks)

a. Explain four (4) strategies for managing conflicts. (8 marks)

b. Discuss with examples, how you would use any two (2) strategies to manage conflict in
your organization. (17 marks)

are asked to address new supervisors on the topic: Whether participating in a team or leading one,
managers should be aware of advantages and disadvantages of group work.” Write your address
and include two (2) advantages and two (2) disadvantages. (Total 25 marks)

The strategic approach to communication does not occur separately, neither can the variables be
analyzed separately in the managerial context. The strategy is at the core of the onion, but you
must peel away, layer by layer, to get to the core. Use the onion analogy to discuss the
interdependence of each layer and how they are affected concurrently. (Total 25 marks)
