Level 1 - Lesson 10:

Save Ferris Wheel

Save Ferris Wheel:

Did you know that the very first Ferris Wheel ever made was actually in
Chicago? The original Ferris Wheel was designed as a landmark for the 1893
World's Fair! The Ferris Wheel hasn’t changed much since 1893, other than
adding flashy features.

There are also three engineering concepts you want to pay attention to!
How gear ratios have an impact on the speed of movement (gear ratios)
How the cars of the Ferris Wheel are always facing upright (gravity)
The Ferris Wheel isn’t directly attached to the axle of the spinning gear but is
loosely connected to it. As the axle turns, the Ferris Wheel itself also turns,
but not at the same speed as the gears.

Fun Fact: The world’s largest Ferris Wheel was planned to be built in Dubai
in 2020. The wheel is so big that a single ride takes 45 minutes!

Tip #411: Feeling Wired?

Always make sure that the white wire from your
connector jack is going into the S-slot on your switch!
This will always be the case, you’ll do it every time!
