Principle
• The colored specimen sew with multi-fiber, which is wet out in simulated acid perspiration solution,
and then subjected to a fixed mechanical pressure and allowed to dry slowly at a slightly elevated
temperature. The change in color of specimen and the staining of attached multi-fiber are observed.
Terminology
• Perspiration: A saline fluid secreted by the sweat glands.

APPARATUS AND ACCESSORIES
- Perspiration Tester and Petri dish (Diameter- 9cm and depth- 2cm).
- Drying Oven.
- Multi-fiber test fabric (style# 01 in case of silk containing sample / Style #10 with no silk present in
sample) .
- Acid Perspiration Solution (For 1 L Sol. - Add 10 +/- 0.01 g Nacl , 1+/- 0.01 g lactic acid , USP
85%, 1 +/- 0.01g Na2HPO4 , 0.25 +/- 0.001 g l-histidine monohydrochloride into distilled water.)

1. Immerse the specimen in the perspiration solution to ensure thorough wetting out for 30 minutes

4. Place the plates in the perspiration tester with specimen evenly distributed between the 21 plates,
then place 10.0 lbs pressure.
