June-08 S550 - 8AI-20 module

¾ Properties
9 8 current measurement analog inputs
(autonomous sensors or those remotely supplied by the module)
All AI inputs possess one common denominator; their potential is determined with respect to the
Chassis ground and the Earth. Only those sensors delivering a current (or voltage) source free of
any reference with respect to the Chassis ground or Earth and, in all cases, several sources with
no common points, are directly compatible with our equipment ("floating" output). In all other
cases, you will need a voltaic insulation device in the "Remote terminal unit - Sensor" link.

2 If the "Remote terminal unit - sensor" connecting cable passes outside the
building, or is of great length, a serial surge arrester should be fitted to each
end of the cable.

9 Measurement precision: 0.3% of whole scale

¾ Connection AI board
terminal strip

1 pair
For an autonomous sensor:
- Current: 4-20 mA
- input impedance = 10 Ω

1 pair
For a remotely powered sensor:
- Current : 4-20 mA
- Supply voltage: 12 V +/- 5 %
- Input impedance = 10 Ω

S550 detects a "4-20 mA" sensor fault if the acquired value is inferior to 3.85 mA or greater than 20.15 mA.

¾ Diagnostics
9 The graphical display can be used to view the AI values and to check the module's
supply voltage.
AI 4 13.7 V An excessively low supply
voltage (7 Volts) can thus be
1 23 5.17 mA easily detected before the module
stops working.
2 FFF 18.20 mA ↓

Hexadecimal values of AI board Decimal values of user-defined

terminal strip inputs. "Terminal strips - AI" data.
