Art: Andy Warhol

In the 1960s, one artist stood out: Andy Warhol. His art was like no other. Instead of painting
landscapes or portraits, he concentrated on objects like soup cans and soda bottles. He was special in
that, for him, these ordinary objects were art. He believed that everyday objects could be as
important as other subjects in art. Warhol showed what life was like in the United States. He captured
the excitement of consumerism. His work spoke of the changes taking place in the 60s.
