SCENE 4 (AT THE MANAGER’S OFFICE)

On this scene the manager asks his staff members to sit down and come down so
that they can resolve the issue as matured people without any noise. He then gives
machine staff members to explain their side of the story and then planning staff will
take over, trying to facilitate constructive dialogue and negotiation to resolve conflicts
peacefully as Effective leaders usually does on Conflict resolution according to
MNHP101 notes. After hearing both sides of the story he tells his staff members that
he will do his own investigation on this case before taking a decision that how
leaders should do, gather relevant information, analyse data, and consult with
stakeholders before making decisions according to MNHP101 notes. He then ends
the scene with a challenging question.

POSSIBLE SOLUTIONS

1. HIRE MORE STAFF MEMBERS

If the number of resources increases in the department that leads into demand of
more staff members. If that requirement is not being met that can cause the
tension among staff members because they are overwhelmed as they work under
pressure thus that can turn work environment to be toxic. In this video the
shortage of staff members is one of the causes of conflict, so to hire more staff
could be the most appropriate solution.

2. ROTATION OF ALL STAFF MEMBERS TO DIFFERENT WORKSTATIONS

Staff members if are not changing their rotation they keep on work on one
workstation continuously that can have an effect on the environment. Staff
members will keep on complain about certain workstation that staff members
allocated in they are not working because they do not know challenges of that
workstation. Even on decision making that have an impact, it difficult to make a
right decision for a workstation that you last work on it years ago, things change.
This issue of no rotation of staff members also found as one of causes of conflict
on this video, making all staff members to rotate to different workstations that can
be a suitable solution on this manner.
3. STRICTNESS ABOUT WORK HOURS

When staff can come in and leaving at their own desirable time at work and the
manger don’t take that serious thus a conflict will arise between staff members
from different workstations as they are not finishing their patients at the same
time so they will be some staff members from one workstation who will always
leave early due to their workload. Leaving at work before knocking off time found
to be one of the causes of the conflict on this video. To prevent this from keep
occurring the manager can find a machine that staff will utilize to check in when
they come in the morning and check out when they leave in the afternoon so that
his job will be easier on tracing his staff about work time and be strict about work
hours, deduction of the salary can be made if it’s need to.

4. FAIR DISTRIBUTION OF WORK

The workload to be carried out easily without any conflicts the work must be
equal distributed among staff members in all expects even though different
workstations have different kind of work. The diversity must be present on each
and every workstation it’s kinder unfair that men will work on the machine while
women are sitting down with computers. So, for CT, PLANNING and MACHINE
they must be a diversity in terms of gender and race that can prevent the conflict
arises on the video to keep occurring.
