CRASH COURSE #4
This video is about the movement and behavior of the most obvious object
in the night sky – the moon. The moon that is a satellite of the earth. It means that
the moon revolves around the sun every 29.5 days which is actually a month.
Connecting this to the previous video which discussed about the cycle of
movements, we can arrive at the conclusion that astronomy is not only a study of
composition of heavenly bodies but also of their movements. Primarily, ancient
astronomers did not recognize the composition of stars or the moon but rather they
observed how it moved in the night sky. The moon had different appearances in the
earth because it is affected by the light coming from the sun. I believe this is the
reason why the different phases of the moon help us in understanding the concept
of time – everything moves for a reason.
