THE ODYSSEY-WPS Ifa
The Odyssey is an epic poem written by Homer, the and is considered one of the
most influential works of Western literature. It is a sequel to Homer's earlier epic, The
Iliad, and tells the story of Odysseus' also known as Ulysses journey home to Ithaca after
the Trojan War.
The Odyssey follows Odysseus, the king of Ithaca, as he makes his way home
after the Trojan War. Along the way, he faces numerous challenges and obstacles,
including encounters with mythical creatures, angry gods, and powerful forces of nature.
He must use his cunning and resourcefulness to overcome these challenges.
One of the central themes of The Odyssey is the concept of nostos, or the
homecoming. Odysseus' journey represents the universal human desire to return to one's
roots and reclaim one's rightful place in the world. The poem explores the challenges and
transformations that Odysseus undergoes during his odyssey, as he grapples with the
consequences of his actions and the power of the gods.
