DETAILED LESSON PLAN IN MATHEMATICS 7

I. OBJECTIVES
A. Content Standard The learner demonstrates understanding of key concepts, uses and importance
of Statistics, data collection/gathering and the different forms of data representation,
measures of central tendency, measures of variability, and probability.
B. Performance The learner is able to collect and organize data systematically and compute
Standard accurately measures of central tendency and variability and apply these appropriately
in data analysis and interpretation in different fields.
C. Learning At the end of the lesson the students are expected to:
Competency/ Objectives 1. define statistics and terms related to it;
2. classify data (a) in terms of its nature and (b) using the four levels of
measurement;
3. identify real-life problems that can be solved by Statistics; and,
4. formulate simple statistical instruments.
II. SUBJECT MATTER
Topic INTRODUCTION TO STATISTICS
References Math Grade 7 LG(4TH Quarter)
Quarter 4 Module 1 from School Division of San Jose Del Monte, Bulacan
Materials Power point presentation, Laptop, Cellphone, Pen and Paper
III. PROCEDURE Teacher’s Activity Student’s Activity
A. PREPARATION Prayer One of the student will read the prayer
that will flash on the screen

Online Class Rules Listen and watch the online class rules to
be played by the teacher

Greetings Students will greet the teacher and they

will fix themselves as they faced their
gadgets

Statistics plays a big role in our lives

We use population, a complete collection o
f all elements that we need to study. People
grouped together by a common feature.

While the sample's subset of a population

The representation of the population. Students will sing the song .
Analytic subset of a community.
So lets go and lets learn statistics together.

Qualitative data are nonnumeric

While quantitative, are numbers
representing counts or measurements like
weight, height and age.
It's either discrete or continuous.

Statistics a branch of Mathematics

Deals with collection, organization,
analysis, presentation, interpretation of
data
We need it in our daily lives it's an
essential.

Base on the song we sang, What will be

our topic for today?

Very Good!
What can you say about Statistics?

C. Presentation
It’s all about statistics.
Statistics plays a big role in our daily lives,
even without us knowing, here are just an
examples. Statistics is a branch of Mathematics that
deals with the collection, organization,
-Education presentation, analysis, and interpretation
of data.

-Business

-Science -It is frequently used to describe the

scores of the students.

-Business owners can provide better

product at reasonable costs by
statistical quality control techniques.

-Government -In science, the data resulting from

experiments must be collected and
analyzed. Contagious diseases are
controlled through analysis designed to
anticipate epidemics/pandemics just like
Covid-19.

Another example in survey of Who is your In government, many kinds of statistical

qualified families for 4Ps (Pantawid
Pamilyang Pilipino Program).

We have also two areas of statistics

Descriptive Statistics and Inferential
Statistics any idea about It? How can you
compare the two?

In English Descriptive has its root word

“describe” or in tagalog ilarawan o
paglalarawan while inferential as “ infer “ Descriptive Statistics – collection,
in tagalog “ hinuha” presentation and descriptive of sample
data While inferential making decisions
and drawing conclusions about
population.

Descriptive Statistics it is collection,

organization and presentation while
Inferential Statistics analysis and
presentation.

In statistics, we commonly use the terms

population and sample.
These terms are the very core of Statistics.

A population is a complete collection of all

elements to be studied, in relation to
ARALING PANLIPUNAN, population is
the total people/ individual in one
community or country same as in
Statistics while A sample is a subset of a
population that will serve as a
representative of the whole population

Give me an example of population and

sample.

The concept of getting a sample from a

population is very crucial in Statistics
because there are times that the whole
population is very large that it is not
convenient to gather data from it. A sample Population, Students of Sto. Rosario
should be a good representative of the National High School, Sample from 7 –
whole population. malikhain
The process of getting a sample is called
sampling.
It is also important that we know how to
determine and classify the data that we
need to process in order to produce
information.

Some data sets consist of numbers (such as

weights), and others are nonnumerical
(such as color). The terms quantitative data
and qualitative data are often distinguished
between these two types.
( to differentiate the two, get its simple
word quality and quantity) quantity consist
of number while quality is a standard
characteristics
Qualitative Data can be separated into
categories that are distinguished by some
nonnumeric characteristics. Give me an
example.
Quantitative data consist of numbers
representing counts or measurements.

Quantitative data can either be discrete or

continuous. Examples: gender, religion, marital
status, eye color

Examples: weight, height, number of

siblings

Discrete data result from either a finite

number of possible values or countable
number of possible values as 0, or 1, or
2… (number of siblings)

Continuous data result from infinitely

many possible values that can be
associated with points on a continuous
scale in such a way that there are no gaps
or interruptions. (weight and height)

Moreover, when a data is

qualitative, we can classify it
further as nominal or ordinal. If the
data is quantitative, we can classify
it further as interval or ratio.
Another way to classify data is to
use four levels of measurements:
nominal, ordinal, interval, and ratio.

ASSIGNMENT SURVEY YOUR WAY!

One of the easiest statistical instruments to
formulate is a survey form. Surveys are
very helpful tool and useful in research
among different fields. It is low cost,
extensive, flexible, and dependable. You
will create your own today! Follow the
steps below to plan your survey.
STEP 1. Choose your population. A. Your
classmates B. Family Member C.
Neighbors
STEP 2. Plan on how you will select a
sample from your chosen population.
STEP 3. Determine the thing/topic you are
most interested to know.
Choose from the following topics: a.
Habits and Struggles during the Pandemic
b. Online Gaming c. New normal
education d. Social Media Applications
STEP 4. Based on your answer in step 3,
write a short description for your survey.
Using a clear and simple language, briefly
explain the topic and the purpose of your

survey.
STEP 5. Based also on your answer in step
3, determine what questions you will
present in your survey form. Decide
whether your questions will be multiple
choice or whether you will allow survey
participants to give any answer they wish.
STEP 6. Write down your survey questions
on a sheet of paper. Make your own survey
form.
