STANDARD OPERATING PROCEDURE

TITLE PAINTING CONTROL

PURPOSE Readiness for Paint Application without errors

Equipment cleanliness:
1. Ensure the paint hose, paint gun are clean & rinsed with the paint system
thinner.
Wrong thinner in the line shall seriously affect the paint performance.
2. Ensure the compressed air supplied to the spray gun is clean & dry.
3. Ensure the oil / water trap is in working condition.
4. Ensure the paint booth functions & exhaust are working.
Mechanical Mixing :
1. Ensure the ‘Base’ and ‘Hardener’ are taken in the specified proportion.
2. If partial mixing, then the quantities must be taken with measured volume.
In case of partial mixing, the ‘Base’ must be first mixed homogenous with
mechanical mixing.
3. The paint mixing must be carried out with Power Mixer.
PROCEDURE 4. The mixing should continue for about three minutes after the single color
homogenous mixture is achieved with no settling / sedimentation in the drum.

Viscosity:
1. Ensure the viscosity with Ford-cup : B4 in the range of 40 ~ 60 seconds.
However, the actual viscosity depends on the sprayer’s judgement.
2. Ensure only the specified thinner is mixed to adjust the viscosity.
WFT:
1. Ensure the WFT with the WFT ‘Comb Gauge’.
2. DFT = VS*WFT /100
Ventilation:
1. Ensure the object is placed at a covered, dry place with adequate ventilation.
2. First few hours of ventilation after application are important for good curing.
