Q 1. What is process discovery? Explain its types with an example of your own.

(200 – 500

Words)
Discovering processes entail scrutiny of the traces of the event functions in a system to disentangle
how processes are. There are different methods for this: the Alpha Algorithm iterates the first
hypothesis by adding the already observed behaviour; Heuristic Mining operates with defined rules
for a proper model formation; Genetic Algorithms change the essay in time, and Fuzzy Mining holds
the mid-term objective of variable data. Such examples can be hospital where process discovery can
be leveraged in order to better the patient admission experience. Highlighting event data such as fact
quantity and treatment, they can create a causal model of how each stage in the procedure is carried
out. This allows them to quickly identify any issues or delays, they for example, need examine
patients irrespective of it is just an extra test. The patients and staff have the benefit of knowing all the
details about the admission process and can have a smoother and easier procedure.

Q 2. What is process analysis in BPM? Explain why process analysis is crucial in BPM using
your own example. (200 - 400 Words)

Process analysis in the Business Process Technology (BPM) is a method that is used on the basis of
structured rules for the assessment of the status of the organization’s processes and it has a function to
find the common mistakes or deficiencies and the points that hinder the operations of the
organization. It becomes a cornerstone of the digital transformation process, which can lead to
improving productivity, overall compliance with regulations, and customer experience. Let’s take for
instance a local restaurant which is struggling with long customer line at busy hours. Through process
analysis, it is now determined that the retraining of the cashiers is necessary because the outdated
manual order entry system is consuming a lot of time. This way of ordering can cut down on
processing time, as well as minimize mistakes made through human intervention, and give the
customers attentive service. It further improves the arrangements because not only the order to table
process is perfectly optimized but also the customers’ experiences are greatly improved which shows
that process redesign has a direct impact on operations’ efficiency and satisfaction of customers.

Q 3. a) Differentiate between all types of process discovery methods (based on their

strength and weaknesses). Also mention when each type is most appropriate (include in
differentiation). b) Differentiate between the process analysis methods.

a) Depending on the peculiar situation and the discrepancy between strengths and weaknesses,
diversity of process discovery methods is characterized by various approaches which can be used as
per the need. The Alpha Algorithm methods, however, tend to be of high quality when simulating
complex and highly dynamic processes as they are able to continuously improve process modelling
based on repeated observation. They do make the mistake of broking noisy, large-scale, and detailed
information. However, compared to heuristic mining methods that are simple and heuristic in nature,
which draw upon the predefined rules and makes it suited for the simple processes with linearity and
patterns, this risk being limited in their capability to adapt to the new sources to generate revenue.
Nevertheless, the overlook OTTO (Overlook Other Tomorrow: Take Over Tomorrow) may not focus
on less frequent process variations. The genetic algorithm stands strong in tackling stressful processes
and deficient pulse data by organically developing models through innumerable cycles over time.
While this may be so, large amounts of computational power are required in addition to sophisticated
skillsets to train them properly. Fuzzy mining approaches contribute to the data handling of
imprecision and variability during the event, but they also narrow the scope for precision in
processing models. Alpha Algorithms that are designed to be addressed for dynamic processes with
frequent transitions are adequate, while heuristic methods are the best suit for systems with well-
defined patterns. Genetic algorithms are best suited to complex systems with coarse data while fuzzy
mining works well on systems with high uncertainties.

b) With regard to process analysis ways, they differ in the matter of dealing with the process data and
distil the insights from them. Descriptive process analysis has to do with summarizing the past
process behaviour, the pinpoints where process activities were slow, and the value of performance
metrics as they can be measured at different times. It enables the examination of the way things are
going in current stage. Predictive process analysis allows you to make a forecast of a subsequent
process behaviour using historical data, discover and prevent problems and optimize the use of
resources. This is used to predict and plan for a greater extent of utilization of resources, implement
preventive plans and improve decision-making. Structural analysis of diagnosis cycle analyses system
data to identify different sources of inconsistencies, aberrations, and failures within the overall
process. It enables at targeting the specific issues and makes provision of the appropriate solutions.
Prescriptive process analysis digs deeper than mere issue discovery by suggesting concrete action,
and/or a point of intervention, designed to optimize performance of a process and attain desired
results. It adds intelligence to track performance as well as generating actionable insights for process
improvement initiatives. A paradigm shift in healthcare is underway, driven by advancements in
technology that are transforming the way healthcare is provided and optimal outcomes are achieved.
This transformation calls for a reassessment of the way care is delivered, and healthcare professionals
respond to the changing needs of patients. Each tool of process analysis has its benefits, but they are
applicable only in situations, and times of specific needs, for instance, monitoring past selves, or
predicting future outcomes, problem diagnosis, or seeing through solutions.
