BACKROUND AND EXPERIENCE

Please briefly present the partner organisation (e.g. its type, size, scope of work, areas of
specific expertise, specific social context and, if relevant, the quality system used).
Our school (EVLİYA ÇELEBİ VOCATIONAL AND TECHNICAL ANATOLIAN HIGH SCHOOL) is
situated in Manavgat district in Antalya province, in the south of Turkey. It was founded in 2001-
2002 academic year with the mission of contribution to the tourism sector with qualified labour
force in Manavgat by educating students who can be professional in their fields, who have world
standard knowledge and qualification, who follow the improvements in the sector constantly, who
know the national values and represent them well, who have knowledge about different cultures
and be tolerant to them, who are successful in human affairs and communication.
We have 1 principal, 4 assistant principals, 28 specialist teachers, 1 officer, 20 qualified
instructors and 5 attendants.
We have 25 classrooms equipped with IWBs, 2 language laboratories, a library, a computer
room, a canteen, 4 workshops for Catering Department students to train cooking and a Laboratory
for Front Office Department students.
252 students aged 14-18 are educated in Front Office, Service/Bar, Catering and Pastry. English
German and Russian languages are taught as foreign languages. 10th and 11th grade students do
their internships at the hotels in our district from May to September.
Second level chef assistant course is given in our school throughout the year. We also have
perfection to give courses in various levels and subjects when required.
Our students are trained in Hotels in order to work as qualified employees. And also courses are
given in several levels within the project of ‘full day-full year’ throughout the year.
We have a Practice Hotel let our students practice their knowledge and have first experiences in the
sector. Our Hotel has 36 rooms and 106 beds and a restaurant suitable for different types of
organizations (wedding, graduation, meeting..) with 150 seats. The rooms are single, double and suit.
All our rooms have air conditions, mini bars, televisions, hair dryers and internet access. Our practice
hotel has opportunities to host the Erasmus students to do their internships.

Our students of the Catering Department join national and international competitions in order to
improve their skills. They got very good degrees last year. We participated in three projects of
Erasmus+ in the last four years.

What are the activities and experience of your organization in the areas relevant for this
project?

In 2016 within the project of Erasmus+2016-1-TR01-KA102-026259 Turkish Europe


Gastronomy Culture as a coordinator school, we had a partnership with two other schools
from Turkey. We
sent 20 students to Poland and German for a 3-weeks training course as a coordinator
school.

In 2017 within the project Erasmus+ European Orientation Studies and Employment of Well-
trained personnel -1-TR01-KA102-030389, We sent 5 students to Bulgaria.

In 2018 within the project of Erasmus+ “Participation in Applied Vocational Education


Students Level in Tourism Sector in Europe” we sent students to England and German for a
3-week training course as a partner school.

In 2021 within From Local to Global Environmental Awareness ( 2020-1-PLO1-KA229-081789_4


We sent 2 teachers and 5 students to Poland to participate in environmental activities for the
first mobility.

Ömer AKKAN He was graduated from Gazi University, Trade and Tourism Education
(Project Manager) Faculty, Travel Agency Management Department. He is an
Accomodation and Travel Managment Teacher who has leadership
traits. He has a guiding and organisational ability. He has an analytical,
trouble shooter character. He is courteous, and supportive for all kinds
of projects that provide the development of the teachers and students.
After University he had an Education Management Degree from Istanbul
University. He worked as a teacher for five years and as an assistant
manager for 5 years in his 20years of professional life. He has been still
working as a Manager at Evliya Çelebi Vocational and Technical High
School.
He has intermediate level speaking, comprehension and writing skills in
English.

Döndü KILIÇ She was graduated from Gazi University, Vocational Education Faculty,S
(Contact Person) he is a Food and Beverage teacher who is open minded and well
organized. She has a positive, analytical, solution oriented character. She
has responsibility, self respect and self reliance. She has the ability to
work independently and also in a group. She has 18 years experience in
her professional life. And she has been still working as an Food and
Beverage Teacher in School of Tourism.

She has worked as a coordinator of EU Projects at Evliya Çelebi


Vocational and Technical High School for 9 years.

She participated in some European projects.
