Important Definitions

Company Code: central organizational unit of external accounting within the SAP System. The
business transactions relevant to Financial Accounting are entered, saved, and evaluated at the
company code level.

Plant: organizational unit within a company where activities take place. A plant is an organizational
unit within the company, against which materials are purchased and stored.

Storage Locations is a logical unit in the organization where material is organized. To a plant, there
can be assigned multiple storage locations.

Warehouse: Place where inventory is stored.

Storage type: physical or logical subdivision of a warehouse complex, which is characterized by its
warehouse technologies, space required, organizational form, or function. A storage type consists of
one or more storage bins.

Storage bin: the smallest available unit of space in a warehouse. The storage bin therefore describes
the position in the warehouse where the goods are or can be stored. Since the address of a storage

Warehouse
The warehouse is used to support in processing of all goods movements and in managing stocks in
the warehouse complex. A warehouse management system supports scheduled and efficient
processing of all logistics processes within a warehouse.

Plant Storage Location Warehouse Description

1000 1000 100 Warehouse

Storage Type
A storage type is a storage area, warehouse facility, or warehouse zone that is defined in Warehouse
Management (WM) for a warehouse number. This is a physical or logical subdivision of a warehouse
complex that is characterized by its warehouse technique, the space used, its organizational form, or
its function.

Storage
Plant Warehouse Storage type Description
Location
1000 02 100 100 Warehouse

1000 03 100 100 Warehouse

1000 04 100 100 Warehouse

1000 05 100 100 Warehouse

1000 06 100 100 Warehouse

Storage Bins
The storage bin describes the position in the warehouse where the goods are or can be stored. Since
the address of a storage bin is frequently derived from a coordinate system, a storage bin is often
referred to as a coordinate.

SOC has no standard number of Bin Location ranges inside each shelf. Therefore, after collective
creation of storage bins, SOC will delete the not physically exited storage Bin. Moreover, it is
requested to take in consideration that some of the Storage between mentioned prefixes L, M, X and
Z (i.e. from LA to LH means LA, LB, LC …etc.).
