Corporate Social Responsibility: ESG stands for Environmental, Social and Governance.

This is often
called sustainability.

1. Social:
 Masan and its subsidiaries contributed over VND14 billion in 2022 to various
national social welfare efforts such as supporting people affected by storms and
floods in Nghe An, donating VND5 billion to the “For the homeland – For the
frontline” Fund to the people and soldiers guarding the borders and seas of
Vietnam, supporting poor households through “Fund for the Poor” at both the
national level and at Ha Tinh Province.
 Masan High-Tech Materials (“MHT”): In 2022, MHT invested approximately
VND1.95 billion for social welfare activities and community development
support, such as building canals, agricultural extension activities and sustainable
livelihoods, public health, clean water and environmental sanitation, micro-
credit, capacity building and sponsorship, humanitarian and charity programs,
particularly in project-affected communes and in the province and district in
general. The Company still entrusts the Vietnam Bank for Social Policies, Dai Tu
district branch to disburse the economic recovery loan fund with a total value of
VND6 billion. In 2022, 53 households benefited from the program with a
disbursed amount of VND2.6 billion.
 Masan MEATLife (“MML”): In 2022, MML invested close to VND700 million for
social welfare activities and community development support, such as in-kind
support for vulnerable households, the elderly, and children in close partnership
with the authorities of the locality where the Company operates, scholarships
for high school students, in-cash support for the publication of the book on The
Communist Party’s History in Ha Son
 Masan Consumer Holdings (“MCH”): In 2022, MCH contributed VND1 billion for
1,000 eye surgeries for people of Binh Thuan and Kien Giang provinces.
 WCM provided both in-cash and in-kind support of essential equipment for the
solidary fight against the COVID-19 pandemic.
 WCM also initiated the Sustainable Poverty Reduction Program which was
implemented through the models that established the linkage among
production, technical support, and consumption of agricultural produce. The
target beneficiaries of the program were households residing in poor and
struggling areas.
 

2. Economic:
o In 2022, Masan Group contributed nearly VND4,870 billion to the State budget, fulfilling
our legal obligation as a private sector leader. (Là một đơn vị hàng đầu trong khu vực
kinh tế tư nhân, MSG đã đóng góp hơn 4.874 tỷ đồng thuế và các khoản phải thu khác
vào ngân sách nhà nước trong năm 2021.)

their quality of life
o As of 31 December 2022, Masan Group has a total of 37,112 employees
 Masan received the award "Best Place to Work in Asia 2023"
o A natural extension of MSG’s mission to improve the lives of nearly 100 million
Vietnamese consumers

Đó chính là ý nghĩa của triết lý “Doing well by doing good”
3. Environmental:
 In 2022, MHT received the Certification of Energy Management System ISO
50001:2018. The certification is valid for three years starting from 16 December
2022 to 15 December 2025. The certification is in recognition of the energy-saving
 efforts of MHT and motivates us to continue implementing energy-saving programs
at all of our operations
 We operate a large-scale pig farm on 223 hectares of land in Nghe An province, built
with total investment of VND1,400 billion. We have also spent VND200 billion on
facilities to protect the environment such as a waste-water treatment plant and a
bio-gas electricity plant. We believe, this is the largest pig farm in the country and
conforms to Global G.A.P standards, highlighting the importance of using scale and
technology to improve productivity in the animal husbandry sector in a sustainable
manner.
 In the retail sector, WinCommerce did its part in environmental protection by
introducing green solutions at our WinMart supermarkets and WinMart+ mini-
marts. WinMart/WinMart+ replaced 100% plastic bags with biodegradable
alternatives while reducing or replacing single-use plastic materials with
environmentally friendly options, providing promotional offers to customers who
use their own multiple-use bags in order to encourage adoption of green consumer
behaviors in shopping at WinCommerce’s retail stores. To minimize its
environmental impact, WinEco has replaced nylon bags and rubber bands for
packaging with biodegradable materials following the standards of the Ministry of
Natural Resources and Environment. In addition, WinEco also uses kraft paper and
biodegradable nylon bags to harvest and package products instead of wrap and
conventional nylon bags.
 At Masan, one of our key priorities in environmental protection is the preservation
of water sources. We have invested significantly in advanced wastewater treatment
systems and apply the most stringent standards to monitor the effects of plant
operations on the surrounding environment. At MasanConsumerHoldings, we have
invested in Dutch-designed wastewater treatment plants at production facilities in
Binh Duong, Hai Duong, and Nghe An.
 Clean and renewable energy: We provide training to our workers on the benefits of
energy-saving habits by regular cleaning of machines and tools for best-quality
products. We adopted biogas production from rice husks and sawdust waste to
generate energy for our factories. Biogas is not only an environmentally friendly and
cost-effective energy source but also results in job creation and income for local
people.
