Mr Eksteen recently bought the body of a VW Golf 6 from a second-hand motor dealer.

The
body does not have any other components attached to it, like an engine, wheels, gearbox,
radio, and seats.

Mr Eksteen adds components to the car. Using only things that belong to him, he builds a
new engine into car, adds wheels, inserts a gearbox, radio, and seats. Mr Eksteen now enjoys
driving around Johannesburg in the built-up Golf over weekends.

Yesterday Ms Fatima went to see Mr Eksteen at his home. She informs him that the body of
the Golf he bought from the second-hand motor dealer belongs to her, as it was stolen from
her almost a year ago. She managed to track it down with the help of the South African
Police Service. She demands that Mr Eksteen hand over the built-up Golf to her, failing
which she will institute legal proceedings against him for the return of the vehicle.

Mr Eksteen now approaches you, his attorney. He wants to know what his rights regarding
the Golf are. He tells you that his engine, which he built into the body of the Golf, is worth
much more than the body itself.

Advise Mr Eksteen fully, with reference to applicable legal sources, on his legal position and
on his prospects of success. You must refer to several sources to support your answer.
