1. Higher order thinking skill questions need students to analyze and comprehend the question carefully.
To do so, students will need to think critically. For example, if there is given a text, HOTS questions won’t
ask information that is given directly by the text but it will ask about information that you will need to
analyze the text first to find the answer of the question. Therefore, the use of higher order thinking skill
can improve students’ critical thinking.

2. Inference is conclusion that is not directly stated from the text so it is an indirect conclusion. In order
to answer a question about inference, you need to read between the lines and understand the text first.
So, inference can be made by using the clues from the text and also from known facts that the reader
knows.

3. Tenses is extremely important because to master English, you need to know tenses. To make a good
sentence in English, you need to know tenses. For my future, it is important because a lot of tests for
example UTBK that I will face next year and also the TOEFL test that I will need to take when I am in
college, have many reading questions and also especially for TOEFL, there are grammar questions. These
questions need me to know tenses so that I can answer the questions.

4. Factual report is a text that presents about some factual information. It can be about human, animal,
things, scientifical or social phenomenon. In daily life, we see a lot of factual report text, for example in
newspaper, TV, or even social media, we can see a lot of factual report text. Factual report text that we
see a lot is usually news. News is a factual report text because it contains fact and give out information
about something.

5. Caption in social media nowadays is variative because it depends on the person who made the
caption. It is up to them. Some people like to use quotes for their captions. Others tell something about
the image they posted. Some people use longer captions while others use shorter ones. Captions
nowadays might even not be important and might also don’t deliver the actual function of caption.
