SEMI-DETAILED LESSON IN PLAN IN PHYSICAL SCIENCE 6

I. OBJECTIVES:

At the end of the lesson, the learners must be able to:

1. define and accurately identify the stages of the rock

cycle;

2. demonstrate a comprehensive understanding of the

rock cycle by effectively illustrating the processes
involved through interactive models with
enthusiasm and engagement; and

3. develop a heightened appreciation of the Earth

processes, specifically recognizing the vital role of
the rock cycle in our daily lives.

The Rock Cycle

II. SUBJECT MATTER

A. Content Standards How does a rock transform after the cycle?

B. Performance Describe what happens after the cycle process of each

transform.

Have the learners to answer the following question:

● What happens to the clay that you have after

forming it in one?

● After you flatten it, what do you notice?

● What happens after you mix and roll the three

different colors of clay?

● Why do you think clay changes into different

forms?

The Rock Cycle

practicing new skills 1
The rock cycle is a continuous process of formation,
(LESSON PROPER)
transformation, and reformation of rocks on Earth's
surface and below. It involves three main types of rocks:
igneous, sedimentary, and metamorphic.

1. Formation: Rocks start as magma deep

underground or as lava on the Earth's surface.

When magma cools and hardens, it forms igneous
concepts and
rocks. When rocks are weathered and broken into

2. Transformation: Sediments get pressed and stuck

(DEEPENING)
together to make sedimentary rocks. If rocks are
buried deep underground and heated or squeezed a
lot, they change into metamorphic rocks.

3. Reformation: If rocks get melted again, they become

magma or lava once more. This completes the cycle
because magma can cool and become igneous rocks
again.

So, rocks can change from igneous to sedimentary to

metamorphic and back again through heat, pressure,
weathering, and cooling. It's like a big recycling process
happening over millions of years, shaping the Earth's
surface and creating different types of rocks.

1. Let's play a game “Rock’n Round the Cycle”

F. Developing Mastery
2. The class will be composed of (3) groups. Each
(POST – ACTIVITY) group will need the following material: 3 different
colors of clay. (5 minutes)

Objectives: Perform the steps in the Rock Cycle

1. Each group picks one rock.

2. Every group will have a representative tp
