Bayani, the binturong, wanders through the forest, his unique scent trailing
behind him, as other animals scurry away, leaving him alone.
siyang nag-iisa. )
Bayani tries to approach a group of animals playing together, but they
scatter, leaving him standing alone, feeling rejected and dejected.
ngunit sila'y nagkakalat, iniwan siyang nag-iisa, nadaramang tinanggihan at
nasaktan.)
As Bayani attempts to join in the other animals' games, they push him away,
laughing and calling him names, leaving him feeling hurt and unwelcome.
With a heavy heart, Bayani retreats to the quiet depths of the forest, where he finds
solace among the trees and stars, longing for acceptance.
The forest animals gather around Bayani, cheering and celebrating his heroic deeds,
finally recognizing him for the hero he truly is.
Bayani is embraced by his fellow creatures, accepted and valued for his uniqueness and
bravery, no longer feeling left behind or mistreated.
Binturong
Sometimes called a bearcat because of its appearance, the
binturong is actually a member of the Viverridae family,
which includes animals such as civets and genets. The
binturong has shaggy black hair, which is sometimes streaked
with silver, and wiry whiskers that can give the animal a
rather frumpy appearance. Binturongs smell like buttered
popcorn thanks to scent glands under their tails.
Though binturongs aren’t as agile as squirrels or monkeys,
these creatures are built for a life in the canopy. A tail nearly
as long as the binturong’s body serves as a fifth limb for
grabbing onto branches and tree trunks. With its tail latched
safely around a branch, the binturong can sleep safely high
above the ground.
