Question 1

The first role that a parent with a child having disability is to accept the child the way he

or she is and know that child needs a special attention than other children. The parent should

therefore ensure that they work in all means to provide all the needs that the disabled child needs.

Another role that the parent of a disabled child should do is to build serene environment

for the child. For example if the child is not able to ear, the parent should raise the child in

environment full of aiding designs for learning.

Advocating for rights of persons with disabilities is another role that the parent should do.

The parent should go to that authority that gathers for the rights of children with disabilities.

Question 2

Understanding family that values the practices of their children and will like them to

adopt their practices is the one that involves children in their decisions. The very important role

that parents can do for their children that will benefit them is by providing them with education.

Question 3

Different cultural backgrounds affect the way in which children with special needs are

handled. Some communities believe that having a child with disability is a sign of bad omen and

will fear to expose them. Some who understand the situations behind disability will allow their

children to be attended.

Question 4

Despite the fact that different cultural practices of different communities clash, culture

remains to be the main source of respect among different communities. For example from the

Arab community that I come from, women wear clothes that cover the entire body. This kind of

dressing does not offend anybody from any other community.
