The heinous crime comes as the department’s crime stats from April revealed that six more rapes were
reported last month – 124 – compared to April of 2023 when the department fielded 118 such reports.

As of May 5, a total of 511 rapes had been reported throughout the city, the same total as last year during
that period.

Rapes are down this year in the Bronx – with 141 reported through May 5, compared to 148 during the
same period in 2023, the latest data shows.
