LASHING CALCULATION

1 EXECUTIVE SUMMARY
Owners are intended to carry assorted cargo on the main deck of MV MONTET
TIDE.

Cargos must be stowed and secured with cleat fittings and lashing.

This document consists of calculation for cargo securing in both longitudinal and
transverse direction.

2 REFERENCE
1. CM-II-214-2004-Stowage Plan & Lashing Details_Voyage-4

3 METHODOLOGY
Cargo securing calculations are performed using “LASHCON IMO” which is based
on Code of safe practice for cargo stowage and securing 2033 edition annex 13.

Calculations are presented in section below.

4 MAIN PARTICLUARS

S. No. Description Value Unit

1 LOA 87.07 m
2 LBP 83.00 m
3 Breadth (MLD) 18.80 m
4 Depth (MLD) 7.40 m

5 LASHING CALCULATION

5.1 VOYAGE -4

STOPPER 9 & 12 STRENGTH ANALYSIS

The Cleat is checked against the Loads which will induce Shear Stress in the Cleat.
Hard Lashing Particulars:

100

150

Thickness of the Cleat = 25 mm

Stress Calculation :

Shear Load = 10.00 Mton

Shear Area = 25.00 cm2

Shear Stress = 0.40 Mton/cm2

Allowable Shear Stress = 1.28 Mton/cm2

Conclusion Ok

Weld check iwo Cleat

Weld Leg size = 12.5 mm

Throat size = 8.84 mm

Weld area = 26.51 cm2

Stress Calculation:

Shear Load = 10.00 Mton

Shear Area = 26.51 cm2

Shear Stress = 0.38 Mton/cm2

Allowable Shear Stress = 1.28 Mton/cm2

Conclusion Ok

The Cleat is checked against the Loads which will induce Shear Stress in the Cleat.
Hard Lashing Particulars:

100

200

Thickness of the Cleat = 25 mm

Stress Calculation :

Shear Load = 10.00 Mton

Shear Area = 33.33 cm2

Shear Stress = 0.30 Mton/cm2

Allowable Shear Stress = 1.28 Mton/cm2

Conclusion Ok

Weld check iwo Cleat

Weld Leg size = 12.5 mm

Throat size = 8.84 mm

Weld area = 35.35 cm2

Stress Calculation:

Shear Load = 10.00 Mton

Shear Area = 35.35 cm2

Shear Stress = 0.28 Mton/cm2

Allowable Shear Stress = 1.28 Mton/cm2

Conclusion Ok

6 CONCLUSION
From section 5, it can be noted that, transverse sliding force, longitudinal sliding
force and cargo tipping moment are with allowable limits with proposed securing
arrangement.
