Teaching Date and Time Quarter Third
9:45 – 10: 45
Objectives must be met over the week and connected to the
curriculum standards. To meet the objectives, necessary
procedures must be followed and if needed, additional
lessons, exercises and remedial activities may be done for
developing content knowledge and competencies. These are
I. OBJECTIVES assessed using Formative Assessment Strategies. Valuing
objectives support the learning of content and competencies
and enable children to find significance and joy in learning
the lessons. Weekly objectives shall be derived from the
curriculum guides.

A. Content Standards The learner demonstrates understanding of key concepts of

circle and coordinate geometry.

B. Performance The learner is able to formulate and solve problems

Standards involving geometric figures on the rectangular coordinate
plane with perseverance and accuracy.

Graphs and solves problems involving circles and other

geometric figures on the coordinate plane.

C. Learning
Competencies/ At the end of 60-minute period, the students will be able to:

These steps should be done across the week. Spread out the
activities appropriately so that pupils/students will learn
well. Always be guided by demonstration of learning by the
pupils/ students which you can infer from formative
assessment activities. Sustain learning systematically by
IV. PROCEDURES providing pupils/students with multiple ways to learn new
things, practice the learning, question their learning
processes, and draw conclusions about what they learned in
relation to their life experiences and previous knowledge.
Indicate the time allotment for each step.

ELICIT

Speed and Accuracy Test

Before we proceed to our new lesson, let us have an activity

to review the previous lesson.

A. Review previous I will call random students to answer to find the center and
lesson or presenting the radius of a circle given the equation.
the new lesson
(The teacher will call random students)

1. x 2+ y 2=64
2. ( x−2 )2 + ( y−4 )2=25
3. x 2+ y 2−4 x+6 y+ 4

B. Establishing a ENGAGE
purpose for the
lesson Let me share with you our lesson objectives this
morning/afternoon.
Kindly read everyone.

At the end of 60-minute period, the students will be able to:

a. graphs a circle on the coordinate plane.
Let’s have another activity which is “Plot me up”.

Activity 1:
Directions: Plot on the coordinate plane using the given
points and then plot using the given units afterwards.

1. (2,6); 9 units to the left

2. (2, 4); 6 units to the right
3. (0, 4); 10 units to the right
4. (7, 0); 8 units to the left
(The teacher will call random students)

Activity 2:

Directions: Determine the center and the radius of the circle

and plot on the coordinate plane.
C. Presenting examples/ 1. 2 2
x + y =49
instances of the new
lesson 2. ( x−5 )2 + ( y −6 )2=81
2 2
3.x + y −8 x−20 y +16
How did you determine the center of each circle?
How about the radius?
 How did you plot on the coordinate plane?
D. Discussing new EXPLORE
concepts and
practicing new skills As we all know, the center of a circle is a point inside the
#1 circle where all the radii meet while the radius is the
distance from the center of the circle to any point on its
circumference.

So, in our previous or first activity, you plot the given points
and units. That activity is related to our lesson for today
which is graphing a circle on the coordinate plane.

The given points are the center and the given units are the
radius.

(The teacher will review the answers of the students in the

first activity and illustrate how to graph the circle)

The teacher shows another example of plotting and

graphing on the coordinate plane.

Example:

1. ( x−7 )2+ ( y−1 )2=49

So, first, we will determine the center and radius of the
circle with this given equation.
E. Discussing new
concepts and The equation of the circle ( x−7 )2+ ( y−1 )2=49 can be
practicing new skills written in the form ( x−h )2+ ( y−k )2=r 2.
#2
So, ( x−7 )2+ ( y−1 )2=49 will now become
( x−7 )2+ ( y−1 )2=72

The center of the circle is (7,1) and its radius is 7 units.

(The teacher will illustrate how to plot the center and radius
and graph the circle)

F. Developing mastery EXPLAIN

(leads to formative
assessment 3) Group Activity

Direction: Determine the center and the radius of the circle

that is defined by each of the following equations. Then
graph on a coordinate plane.

The group will answer on the number correspond to its

graph.

1. x 2+ y 2=16
2. ( x−4 )2 + ( y−3 )2=64
3. ( x−3 )2 + ( y −2 )2=36
4. ( x−2 )2 + ( y−5 )2=25
2 2
5. x + y =100
2 2
6. x + y −4 x−12 y + 4
2 2
7. x + y +10 x−16 y+7
After the teacher read the direction of the activity, the
teacher will read the rubrics of the activity.
Here are the rubrics of the activity.

Rating Scale Criteria: accuracy,

correctness, teamwork and
cooperation, neatness,
time-bounded

95-100 All criteria are achieved

88-94 Only three criteria are

achieved

81-87 Only two criteria are

achieved

75-80 Only 1 criterion is achieved

none at all

Is that clear class?

Okay I’ll give you 10 minutes to prepare.

You can start now.
