BRIEF INTRODUCTION

Do you see the sky everyday? Which sky do you like,

day sky or night sky? Day sky and night sky is the effect of
the earth’s rotation. When half of the earth is facing the
sun, it is daytime on that part. The other part of the earth is
nighttime because it is not lighted by the sun.
We see natural objects in the day sky and the night
sky. Let us discover things we see at daytime and at
nighttime.

Day sky and Night sky

The moment we open our eyes in the morning, it is

already daytime. The sun rises. We do many things at
daytime. When it starts to become dark, the sun sets in the
west, and it is already nighttime. This is the time to rest and
sleep. We see things in day sky and night sky. Can you
name some?
• The Sun

We see the sun at daytime. The sun is a big ball of
hot gases. It gives heat and light on earth.

The sun rises in the east while sunset is in the west. We

can do many things at daytime. We study and play during
the day.
• Clouds

Clouds are amazing things in the sky. These are made

droplets of water. There are different types of clouds.
Some are white and cotton like, while other clouds are thin
like feathers. The weather is good when you see those
clouds. It is the best time to play outside.

Dark clouds are rain clouds. Seeing this kind of clouds

gives us an idea to bring umbrella and raincoat.
Clouds can be seen during daytime and nighttime.

• Rainbow

A rainbow is a colorful curve line that we see in day sky

after it rains. Children like you loves to name the colors
of the rainbow. Red, orange, green, yellow, blue, indigo,
and violet.
• Stars

There are millions of stars in the sky. The sun is a star.

Stars are in the sky even at daytime. We cannot see the
stars during the day because the sun outshines the stars.
Stars can be seen at night sky. They twinkle in the sky. They
appear small in the night sky because they are very far.
• Moon

Have you seen the moon lately? What is its shape? The
moon appears differently. There are different shapes of
the moon. You can see it in full moon, sometimes half-
moon and other times it is like a banana. The moon has no
light of its own. It gets light from the sun. The moon lights the
earth during the night.
