About research
Proposed Research title
(1) Investigating the global distribution and evolutionary
dynamics of enteroviruses causing HFMD in children.
Methodology
[1] a: collecting clinical samples from children diagnosed
with HFMD
b: performing enterovirus detection and identification using
molecular technique
Expected outcomes
(1) a: Identification of prevalent enterovirus serotypes associated with HFMD
in different geographic regions.
b: Characterization of genetic variants and phylogenetic relationships among
enterovirus strains causing HFMD
Research plan

 Phase 1: Literature Review and background Study 2 months

 Review existing literature about enteroviruses causing HFMD
 Identify key research gaps and emerging trends in field
 study the epidemiology and diagnostic methods of enteroviruses causing
HFMD
 understand the genetic diversity, classification , and evolutionary patterns
of these viruses.
 Phase 2 Data collection and sample access (3 months)

 Establish collaboration with healthcare institutions, Laboratories, and

research organizations globally to facilitate sample collection and data
sharing.
 Develop a standard protocol for sample collection, storage, and transport.
 Selection of multiple representative regions for data collection.
 Collection of clinical samples from HFMD diagnosed children.
 Phase 3 Laboratory Experiments and virus characterization (4 months)
 1 perform viral isolation and cultivation of enteroviruses from collected
samples
 2 Characterize the isolated viruses using molecular techniques for example
(PCR, RT_PCR) to confirm their association with HFMD.
 3 perform whole genome sequencing of selected isolates to explore their
evolutionary dynamics, mutations, and recombinant events.
 Phase 4: Data analysis and computational study (2 months)
 Analyze the collected data to determine the global distribution patterns of
enteroviruses causing HFMD.
 Conduct phylogenetic analyses to infer evolutionary relationships and
genetic diversity among viruses.
 Identify potential viral factors contributing to virulence, pathogenesis, and
transmission dynamics.
 Phase 5 : Reporting and Dissemination (2 months)
 summarize the research findings of enteroviruses causing HFMD in children
in a detailed report.
 prepare and submit manuscripts to peer reviewed journals for publication.
 present research outcomes at national and international conferences
engage with policymaker, healthcare professionals and the public to raise
awareness about HFMD and contribute to prevent strategies.
