Experiment 3 (HIGH PASS FILTER USING OP-AMP)
Aim:
To study Op-Amp as first order HPF and to obtain frequency response.
9) Patch cords.
CIRCUIT DIAGRAMS:
(b) HPF
THEORY:
HIGH PASS FILTER:
The frequency at which the magnitude of the gain is 0.707 times the maximum value of gain
is called low cut off frequency. Obviously, all frequencies higher than fL are pass band
frequencies with the highest frequency determined by the closed –loop band width all of the
op-amp. The high pass filter has one pass band and one stop band.
Design:
Design:
First Order HPF: To design a High Pass Filter for lower cut off frequency f L= 1.59 KHz and pass
band gain of 2
fL= 1/( 2πRC )
Assuming C=0.01 μF,the value of R is found from
R= 1/(2πfLC) Ω =10 KΩ
The pass band gain of HPF is given by AF = 1+ (RF/R1)= 2
Assuming R1=10 KΩ, the value of RF is found from
RF=( AF-1) R1=10KΩ
Procedure:
a) HPF
MODEL GRAPHs:
PRECAUTIONS:
1. Make null adjustment before applying the input signal.
2. Maintain proper Vcc levels.
RESULT:
The frequency response of HPF is plotted using IC741 Op-Amp.
