DIVISIBILITY RULES
When a number can be divided evenly with no remainder it means it is divisible.
A number is divisible by:
2 If
the last digit is EVEN.
ends in 0,2,4,6,8
7 If
you can double the last digit and subtract it from the rest of the number. The
number should be divisible by 7 with no remainder.
Learning Competency: uses divisibility rules for 2, 3, 4, 5, 6, 7, 8, 9, and 10 to find common factors.
Check the box if the number given on the left column is divisible by
the divisors listed on the first row.
2 3 4 5 6 7 8 9 10
Example: 64
1. 208
2. 525
3. 1,550
4. 1,458
5. 1,601
6. 1,917
7. 2,322
8. 3,942
9. 4,500
10. 5,010
Example:
(4 + 3) x 10 ÷ 2 + (5 x 6)
7 x 10 ÷ 2 + 30
70 ÷ 2 + 30
35 + 30
65
Learning Competency: Performs a series of more than two operations on whole numbers applying
Parenthesis, Multiplication, Division, Addition, Subtraction (PMDAS) or Grouping, Multiplication,
Division, Addition, Subtraction (GMDAS) correctly.
1. 50 – 4 x (10 – 3) + 28 ÷ 7
2. 9 + 5(8 – 2) ÷ 15
3. 30 – 4 x 5 + 2
4. 85 – (17 x 3)
5. 48 ÷ (2 x 2) + 73
Example: 8 and 16
2 8 16
2 4 8
2 2 4
1 2
GCF = 2 x 2 x 2
GCF = 8
Learning Competency: finds the common factors, GCF, common multiples and LCM of 2–4 numbers
using continuous division.
1. 15 and 21
2. 24 and 40
3. 20 and 35
4. 18 and 27
II. Read each problem and write the GCF. Show your solution on the box provided.
1. Jiro of Bulalo Elementary School, is making flower arrangement. He has 7 roses and 14
daisies. If Jiro wants to make all the arrangements identical and have no flowers left over, what is the
greatest number of flower arrangements that he can make?
Solution: Answer:
2. Chin-chin wants to create snack bags for a trip a that Grade 5 learners are going on. She
has 6 granola bars and 10 pieces of dried fruits. If the snack bags should be identical without any food left
over, what is the greatest number of snack bags Chin-chin can make?
Solution: Answer:
6, 12, and 18 are common multiples of 2 and 3. The number 6 is the smallest. Therefore, 6 is the least
common multiple of 2 and 3.
The LCM of two numbers is the smallest number divisible by both numbers.
Example: 8 and 16
2 8 16
2 4 8
2 2 4
1 2
LCM = 2 x 2 x 2 x 1 x 2 LCM = 16
Method 3: Prime Factorization
Learning Competency: finds the common factors, GCF, common multiples and LCM of 2–4 numbers
using continuous division.
I. Using continuous division, find the least common multiple of the given numbers.
1. 18 and 24
2. 9 and 15
II. Read each problem and write the GCF. Show your solution on the box provided.
1. The Lee family loves oranges and bananas. They buy bananas in bunches of three, and they buy oranges
in bags of six. If they want to have the same number of bananas and oranges, what’s the smallest number of
fruits they will end up with?
Solution: Answer:
ADDITION OF FRACTIONS
What is fraction?
Fractions represent the parts of a whole or collection of objects. A fraction has two parts. The number on
the top of the line is called the numerator. The number below the line is called the denominator.
Learning Competency: Adds and subtracts fractions and mixed fractions without and with regrouping.
Learning Competency: Solves routine and non-routine problems involving addition and/or subtraction of
fractions using appropriate problem-solving strategies and tools.
Read each problem carefully then answer the questions that follows.
