Narrative Report of 5-Day National Virtual Inset 2.

In light of the adjustments made to the school calendar and activities for SY 2020-
2021 as per DepEd Order No. 012, s. 2021, the Department of Education initiated online
training programs for teachers during the INSET Week from March 15-19, 2021. These
training programs were led by the Information and Communications Technology Service –
Education Technology Unit (ICTS-EdTech).
DAY 1
The weeklong National Virtual In-Service Training by DepEd Edtech commenced on
March 15, 2021. Registration, which was Division-based via Google Forms, began at 8:00
AM. The Virtual Inset was accessible through www.training.deped.gov.ph or at (region
code).lms.deped.gov.ph. The opening program started with the singing of the National
Anthem, followed by a prayer, and an address of the DepEd Mission, Vision, Core Values.
Director Abram Y.C. Abanil (DepEd ICTS) officially inaugurated the program with
his opening remarks, expressing gratitude to all participating teachers. He highlighted the
unprecedented Nationwide Virtual Inset, with approximately 500,000 users on the Learning
Management System. Despite initial expectations for 220,000 participants, the event drew
over 500,000 attendees, leading to some website issues that had to be addressed.
DepEd TV Report was delivered by Mr. Salvador "Sir Badge" Manansala, showcasing
the program's recent accomplishments and milestones. Other reports included DepEd LMS,
DepEd Commons, and Open Educational Resources.
The afternoon sessions focused on Effective Delivery of Synchronous and
Asynchronous Teaching, covering strategies, technical troubleshooting, and innovative
solutions for maximizing technology in instruction.
DAY 2
The second day of the National Virtual INSET on March 16, 2021, featured additional
speakers via YouTube or Facebook. The day started with registration at 8:00 AM, followed by
the opening program and a Zumba dance session.
Sessions included orientation on activating MS 365 Accounts, utilization of
multimedia materials through DepEd TV, video editing techniques, and discussions on
assessment and Open Educational Resources (OER).
DAY 3
The third day of the Virtual INSET featured sessions on Google Workspace for
Education Fundamentals, Poster Design in Adobe Photoshop, Data Privacy Act of 2012, and
strategies for building stronger relationships and understanding personal and professional
versatility.
DAY 4
On the fourth day, sessions focused on Interactive Instructional Materials, chatbot integration
for online-offline learning, breakthroughs in teaching through ETulay, mobile apps in
education, and other EdTech programs and activities piloted by DepEd Tech.
Day 5
The final day of the Virtual INSET, themed "Sulong Edukalidad… Bridging
Education and Technology," commenced with a prayer and reminders about accessing the
course through DepEd LMS. Sessions included topics on digital poetry, technology
integration in English language instruction, Hour of Code, creating interactive materials using
Scratch Animation, and a recap of the day's activities.
Overall, the 5-day National Virtual Inset provided valuable insights, strategies, and
resources for teachers to enhance their skills and adapt to the challenges of modern education.
It emphasized the importance of embracing technology to promote quality education and
ensure continuous learning amidst unprecedented circumstances.
