Review – Unit 1 This is a guideline to help you revise the contents of unit 1.

For each item of

grammar or vocabulary, choose at least one strategy.

➢ Play the role of interviewer and interviewee! Write questions about familiar topics
using Present Simple. Then, answer those questions as if you were an interviewee. You
can write the answers and/or speak them.

➢ Make your own grammar exercises on Present Simple. Examples of grammar exercises
are:
a. Gap-fill: Write sentences but leave a blank space (gap) in each. The gap must be
completed by the correct form of the verb in Present Simple.

and correct them as if you were the teacher.

c. Word order in questions: Write questions in Present Simple and scramble the words.

paper. They are usually bought by tourists. They are used for showing the way to a
particular destination. (word: maps).

you need, but DO NOT copy definitions. Write your own.

➢ Write sentences illustrating the meaning of words and phrases.

the vocabulary in either the questions or the answers.

➢ Vocabulary grouping: group words or phrases according to topic or part of speech

(noun, adjective, verb, adverb, preposition).

➢ Make a list of words you find difficult to remember, use or understand.

Sequencing expressions (first, then, the next stage, finally, etc.)

➢ Write sentences describing a process you are familiar with. In each sentence, leave a
blank space. Then, scramble the sentences. Finally, order them and complete the blank
spaces with sequencing expressions.
