Introduction
The Youth for Environment in Schools Organization aims to take part in the
nationwide tree planting that will provide a unique educational opportunity for students to
actively participate in such activities. This project also fosters a deeper understanding of
environmental issues and promoting conservation efforts.
With this, educational benefits will be attained by planting trees that will also
contribute to the beautification of school grounds. These trees will provide shade, improve air
quality, and create a calming atmosphere, enhance the overall ambience of the school and
creating a more pleasant and conductive learning environment for students.
We, the YES-O, though hands-on learning and practical application of environmental
concepts, seeks to develop a strong sense of responsibility towards the environment.
Numerous benefits will be obtained not just for our environment but as the people in the
community as well.

Objectives
General Objective:
• Contribute to the goal of planting over 236,000 trees nationwide with the
participation of DepEd public schools.

Specific Objectives:
DepEd Memorandum No. 069, s. 2023
• Participate in tree planting activity with the minimum of 5 trees
• Acquisition of seedlings to the public schools in the region
• Composition of participants for each school including not more than 10
teachers and 20 students
• Implement tree-planting activity and care for trees
• Disseminate information through social media platforms

Project Description
The project aspires to have environmental preservation and install environmental
responsibility among Filipino children. As a part of our country, the 46, 678 public schools’
participation by simultaneously planting over 236,000 trees in different parts of the country
will surely conserve our environment. This project will serve as a gift from the Department to
ensure a clean and green environment for every Filipino child and future generations.

Mechanics and Implementation

Pre-Implementation
The YES-O club of ETTMNIHS should acquire seedlings from the Department of
Environment and Natural Resources (DENR) by November 29, 2023. This coordination aligns
with the Memorandum of Agreement among the Office of the Vice President, DENR, and
DepEd for the program titled Pagbabago: A Million Trees Campaign. The seedlings for the trees
must be fruit-bearing trees, Philippine native species trees, or mangroves if the school selects
a coastal area as a venue for the tree planting activity. Schools should have a composition of
no more than 10 teachers and not more than 20 learners that will participate, only maximum
number of 30 individuals should join the tree planting activity.

During Implementation
Learners, teachers and staff members will participate the tree-planting activity
simultaneously on December 6, 2023. Participants with their chosen area will plant all the
procured identified tree provided by the MENRO. With the supervision ad guidance of the
teacher-in-charge are essential to ensure proper planting and care for the trees. DepEd
personnel and students are likewise encourages as well, to share photos and videos of the
tree planting activity through their personal social media platforms using the hashtag
#depedxmastrees.

Post-Implementation
After the tree planting activity, school shall prepare a one-page report containing
details of the said activity. Said report will indicate the name of the school which participated,
number of trees planted, types or species of trees planted, and photos of the activity will be
given during the implementation of the project. The school that participated is responsible
for ensuring the proper care of the trees planted within their premises.
