achievements of 50 exceptional women. At Lean In Equity & Sustainability, we understand that

Over the past two years, we have witnessed the power of collaboration through Circle
Leaders’ initiatives, networking sessions, and empowering conversations among our diverse
members. We have cultivated a space where everyone’s voice is heard, ensuring everyone has

Congratulations to the 50 Africa’s most
phenomenal female energy executives on your
nomination to the Pan-African Female Leaders
in Energy Power List – 2023.
At Lean in Equity & Sustainability, we recognise
that there is strength in women coming
together, and when women support each other,
incredible things happen! We are embracing and
experiencing such with our South Africa Circle.
Our Circle was officially launched post
Africa Oil Week (AOW) 2022. Here we are
celebrating our first anniversary as a circle at
AOW 2023. Happy anniversary to a fantastic
circle of women. We are a rainbow circle with
inspirational women representing the energy
landscape’s public, private and entrepreneurial
sectors from diverse education, age, culture and
ethnic backgrounds.
In line with our mission to support the goal
of women building a sustainable future with
our three strategic pillars of EMPOWER,
ELEVATE and PROVIDE EXPOSURE, within an
international circle of women and allies to enable
women to achieve their ambitions, we engage
regularly for peer mentorship and coaching,
skill building, networking and collaboration,
recognition, celebrations, and inspiration.
At a time when Africa’s energy landscape is
at the height of a revolution driven by energy
poverty, energy security, energy transition
pressures and socioeconomic demands, there
has never been a riper time when adversity

is the breeding ground for innovation and
creativity. Leveraging DEI as a conduit to
alleviate energy poverty, create sustainability
and enhance innovation is imperative for
the diversity of thought needed to address
the continent’s energy and talent challenges
across industries. Women cannot be ignored
in contributing to affordable, reliable and
sustainable energy solutions in Africa or
globally. If you want to know where the world
is going, follow women.
Our circle members have been visible role models
to the girl child of Africa as nurturers, gardeners
in people development and creators, amongst
others knowing fully that the workforce of the
future requires us to think and act differently.
One of the best piece of advice I got in the
energy industry is that you must learn how to
dance on a flying carpet. Let’s put on our dancing
shoes as new tunes are playing out all the time!
I am filled with immense strength, honour
and gratitude to be part of the Lean in Equity
& Sustainability community. Be part of our
movement and join a circle as we collectively
move forward, changing the gender balance
narratives. The roles we play are for the women
behind us, and to inspire, we need to show
them their superpowers, one Circle at a time.
