The municipality of Bacuag was heavily affected when Typhoon Basyang


struck in the morning of February 13,2017. Typhoon Basyang brought heavy
rains which caused flash flood affecting 2,446 families in 9 barangays. The
storm left with 74 persons injured, ten (10) houses totally damaged and 181
houses partially damaged. Lots of livestocks and working animals found
dead, rice fields and other agricultural properties were heavily damaged
which greatly affect the livelihood and the economic situation of the families.
Food became scarce because of the disaster.

The roads that were flooded are filled with muds woods and other solid
materials brought by flood waters that has caused disturbance to
accessibility. The houses are also full of muds and different kinds of dirty
materials that families need to allot days to clean up so it can be safe to live
in. aside from the houses, Day care Centers and school classrooms in some
school, churches and other important infrastructures have incurred damages
and were not spared with the annoying situation the aftermath of flooding.
The whole picture of barangays is dirty. People need to help and work
together to clear, clean their houses, infrastructure, facilities and the whole
community.

Families affected need help. They need food augmentation to mitigate


hunger while working together to clear, clean all the mess brought about by
disaster. Thus, this food for work assistance is being proposed.

VI. Objectives:

1. To encourage community participation in bringing back the normal


situation of the community.
2. To provide food assistance to beneficiaries in lieu of cash incentive as
they work for the benefit of the community.
3. To provide incentive to those strong-willed persons who offered
themselves to help in the community works.
4. To have a clean environment a community that is comfortable to live
at.

VII. Brief Description of the Project:

Bacuag is one of the heavily affected municipalities of TS Basyang


affecting 2,446 families and incurred damages to infrastructure facilities such
as roads, schools, barangay halls, day care centers, houses and properties.
To facilitate immediate restoration, people need to work together for a
minimum of three days to have all the cleaning and clearing done the soonest
possible time.

Note: maximum of 10 days for families with damaged houses


: 1 Family Food Pack (pre-packed) is worth Php694.00. This is
equivalent to 2 days consumption for a family of 5 which means 1 FFP for 2
days work.

IX. Target schedule of Activity:

The Food for Work project shall be done in the month of March 2018
specifically on the first week. The beneficiaries are required to sign a daily
attendance and submit photos before, during and after completion of the work
with signed Relief Distribution Sheet upon receipt of the food incentive.

X. Recommendation:

The undersigned respectfully request and recommends the approval of a


3 days FOOD FOR WORK PROJECT for the municipality of Bacuag for a
total of 6,249 food/family pack that would benefit the 2,143 family victims
of TS Basyang.
