NARRATIVE REPORT

TANIKALANG GINTO ROLEPLAY

On March 2024, around 3:00 pm in the afternoon the College of Education’s

third-year students had their video role play performance task scheduled about the
Tanikalang Ginto written by Juan Abad. The task required each group to perform and
play the story of Juan Abad. The group included Jessa Jell Pilongo, Jhonabel Badua,
Joanna Marie Alcantara, Cassandra Saulo, Mariz Asiso, Eissej Dawn Echon, Mc Kaizer
Bautista, Trisha Mae Oria, Winnie Joy Apolonio, Zyra Mae Delos Santos, and Rica
Jane Candelario.

The first scenes where Jessa Jell Pilongo act as Liwanag and Mc Kaizer Bautista
as K’ulayaw where he offered Liwanag a handkerchief as a token of his devotion. The
scenes play a happy and tender love of Liwanag and K’ulayaw. The beautiful scene is
witnessed by Liwanag’s stepfather Maimbot – played by Ms. Zyra Mae Delos Santos
because of lack of male participant. Maimbot dearly love Liwanag that he only wants
Liwanag to be with him all the time and no one should own her but him. The group
played the next scene where Maimbot gave Liwanag a Tanikalang Ginto or a gold chain
as a symbol of his love for her and also promised her an abundant life just to make
Liwanag stay. Liwanag is dazzled by the look of the gold chain that she forgot the
handkerchief K’ulyaw gave to her that is why it fell on the ground. However, after a
few days, Liwanag noticed the betrayal of Maimbot that she decided to be with
K’ulayaw instead and wants K’ulayaw to be her husband. Maimbot learned about what
Liwanag wants that is why he ordered Nagtapon – palyed by Ms. Winnie Joy Apolonio
– to take the life of K’ulayaw even if it’s his brother in exchange of wealth. The group
held the shooting in school that is why they improvise the scene where Nagtapon and
Maimbot talked. He also ordered some of his men played by Ms. Mariz Asiso and Eissej
Dawn Echon – to tie Liwanag to a tree but it was not easy because Liwanag ran from
them but eventually, they caught her and tied her to a tree to carry out the plan to kill
K’ulayaw. The scene is performed outside the school because the group cannot find a
setting that is appropriate to the scene. Liwanag grieve there in knowledge that her lover
is killed at the moment she is tied. Unexpectedly, K’ulayaw is still alive that he saw
Liwanag tied to a tree and tried to untie her but they are also seen by the men of

Maimbot and they stabbed K’ulayaw from the back and died. The scene was too heavy
for Liwanag to take that she wants to take her life but her friend Diwa – played by Ms.
Joana Marie Alcantara – stopped her by saying that K’ulayaw wouldn’t be happy if she
kills herself.

The group successfully finished the video play by the help of everyone. Each
and everyone in the group provided materials like props, costumes, ideas, gadgets, and
patience.
