He Leadeth Me We all enter this world without a clue and need someone to lead

us. Thank God He has not left us to figure it out on our own!
For all who are led by the Spirit of God are sons of God.
[Rom. 8:14]
Text: Joseph H. Gilmore, 1862
Tune: William B. Bradbury, 1864

1. He leadeth me, O blessed thought! 4. And when my task on earth is done,

O words with heav’nly comfort fraught! When by Thy grace the vict’ry’s won,
Whate’er I do, where’er I be E’en death’s cold wave I will not flee,
Still ’tis God’s hand that leadeth me. Since God through Jordan leadeth me.

CHORUS: There are some unfamiliar words in this lovely older hymn.
He leadeth me, He leadeth me, A bower is a pleasant shady place under trees or climbing
plants in a garden or wood. To repine is feel or express
By His own hand He leadeth me; discontent, or to fret.
His faithful foll’wer I would be,
For by His hand He leadeth me.

2. Sometimes ’mid scenes of deepest gloom,

Sometimes where Eden’s bowers bloom,
By waters still, o’er troubled sea,
Still ’tis His hand that leadeth me.

3. Lord, I would place my hand in Thine,

Nor ever murmur nor repine;
Content, whatever lot I see,
Since ’tis my God that leadeth me.
