RULES AND PROCEDURES
1. There will be 3 rounds; Elimination 1, Elimination 2, Final Round.
o Elimination 1
▪ Each student will be given 5 words to spell.
▪ Each word spelled correctly worth 10 points.
▪ Student will not get any point if the word is misspelled.
▪ Top 5 students from each class will continue to the next round.
o Elimination 2
▪ Each student will be given 5 minutes to spell as many words as
possible.
▪ Each word spelled correctly worth 10 points.
▪ Student will not get any point if the word is misspelled.
▪ Only 1 student with the highest score will be selected for final
round.
o Final Round
▪ Each student chooses a category of words.
▪ The fastest to spell correctly gets 10 points.
▪ The judge will mention 10 words from each category.
2. Teacher is only allowed to mention the word 1 time.
3. Students are allowed to ask for the part of speech, meaning, and example of
the word in a sentence.
4. Teacher may use Merriam-Webster: America's Most Trusted Dictionary to read
the words. Search for the word and click the audio icon.
